Happy Thursday! It’s time for another installment in our It’s Eclectic series! I am so excited about today’s home tour. Emily of Go Haus Go has such great style, seamlessly blending modern lines and vintage touches high contrast colors, and just the right amount of quirk (check out the chairs in her eating nook!). She has a fun and sweet spirit that suits her home, as it should! I can’t wait for you to check it all out, so without further ado…. here’s Emily!
I’ve been in love with Cassie’s It’s Eclectic series for quite some time now, so when she asked me to participate I was like, “Uhm, let me think about this… YES!”
To me eclectic just means the mixing of different styles. And for me, it’s allll about the balance of those styles in a space. Sometimes I’m great at it, other times I need a couple of tries to get the mix right. It seems like I’m always one pillow or wall hanging away from granny chic or thrift store chic. If I feel like I’m adding too many florals, you best believe I’ll thrown in some high-gloss modern white just to keep everything level, or vice versa.
I don’t consider myself an eclectic expert by any means (no way!). If anything, I’m a devoted student. I try to get to class on time, put into practice what I’ve learned and always respect the great teachers.
You can read more about the bathroom project here, including a “before” pic. We worked with all of the existing pieces and just re-used them in some way. There were parts of this bathroom that were a splurge (like that medicine cabinet!) but I tried to balance it with DIY elsewhere, like the painted vanity and rub ‘n buff “brass” hardware.
I mentioned the second bedroom above, well here it is! This room has to function both as a bedroom, office, dressing zone (my closet is in here), make-up station, crafting headquarters and maybe more. It does it all!
The biggest (literally) DIY in this space is the room-length office desk. We needed a space for both Aaron and I to work, but also have some sort of section for our Boston Terrier’s crate. This set-up works so well for us! There is a modern day-bed on the opposite wall, which folds out into a queen-sized bed. We finished this makeover back in the Fall and have yet to have a visitor! Lemme know if you’re coming to Kentucky any time soon. 😉 More information on the office makeover here. Our current project is the kitchen! We’re just getting started, so would love to have you follow along! Here’s the first chapter in the kitchen saga, where we share some plans for the space. Before we started the most recent renovations, here is where we have been for the past couple of years. Ignore the “now” in the above photo, because the truth is, it’s been looking more like this recently. You can read more about the kitchen here. And PHEW! I think that’s plenty of pictures for now! Are you still there? Haha. Feel free to stop by and check out my other spaces, like my laundry room and living room. Just click the house tour! Thanks again Cassie for having me! You made my day! xo, emily
