Update: Linking my tour to the Nester’s Annual Tour.

Happy Wednesday!  Today I am excited and honored to be participating in the 12 Days of Christmas Blogger Home Tour put together by the lovely and talented Jenny of Evolution of Style. My kitchen and dining room have been decorated and are ready for you to take a peek.

12day15Today is day 7 of the tour (Lucky 7!), but you can start from the beginning at Jenny’s and also check out the full list of the 12 Days of Christmas tour at the bottom of this post for tons of inspiration.

I decided to share the kitchen and dining room today because I have a kajillion photos of these spaces- plenty to make one post; and these spaces open up to each other so it just made sense.

Eclectic Christmas Primitive & Proper

This view is from the dining room looking into the kitchen.  Let’s start in the kitchen, shall we?

Kitchen and Dining room at Christmas

In the kitchen, I always like to bring in seasonal touches to our open shelving.

Kitchen at ChristmasAnd as you can see, I am not really into red, but I love this little red animal dish towel I received as a gift.

Kitchen at ChristmasI decided this year to keep my Christmas decor on the shelves to a minimum.  I brought in my vintage jadeite as well as my aqua Kitchenaid mixer as a nod to Christmas baking season.

Kitchenaid in Aqua and Vintage JadeiteI kept one of my seascapes on the shelves and added a little hand cut “Merry” banner to it.

I am a big coffee drinking, and I love bringing out my fun little elf mugs to use this time of year.  And I just might be brewing gingerbread coffee in my French press these days.  This station is also known as my “lifeline station”- caffeine and bananas.  That’s pretty much my survival kit.

Elf mugs in the kitchen

As you can see, we had a visitor at the time of my kitchen shoot, and I couldn’t touch him…  Not to mention he was strategically placed in front of my DIY “I will cut you” cutting board and he had that look in his eye.  I didn’t want to take any chances.  Emmy and I are thinking he wants us to make him this cake he has the page opened to… we just might.

Elf in the kitchen

The kitchen is where I hang my DIY deer mount advent calendar I created last year.  Last year I had an activity written down for each day.  This year life has been a little crazy so I told the kids each day we would invent our own, whether it’s a good deed, or something to get us in the spirit.  SO far we’ve watched Elf, done some Christmas shopping, donated toys, gone to our tree lighting in town, visited Santa, and more!  And as you can see, my ceramic bull has a fun wreath around his neck.

DIY Deer Mount Advent CalendarOn the island I’ve added a glass cake stand I filled with “snowballs”, which are white styrofoam snowball ornaments I found at a yard sale.  It’s grouped with brass deer and gilded coasters since Emmy is famous for leaving her drinks everywhere.

Kitchen Island at Christmas

At the end of the island I’ve added fresh greens from my yard in an enamel pitcher on a tray that my kids made for me one year.

Sawyer and Emmy drew pictures and my mom helped them paint them onto the tray.

Now let’s head into the dining room.  I tried to get a shot so you could see how these rooms flow together.  The white on the walls in both rooms is the same- the lighting is making it look cooler in the kitchen, but I assure you it’s not!
Kitchen and Dining Room

The dining room received a recent mini-makeover, and it’s always one of my favorite spaces to decorate for holidays.Dining Room at Christmas- Eclectic

On the table I have added a vintage Mexican blanket in green, white, and gray, yarn trees my mom made me, some pinecone trees from Target a few years ago, little elves, vintage flocked deer, and vintage lucite candlesticks and candles.

Trees, Deer, and Gnomes on table

The sideboard was recently painted, and I had so much fun decorating it for the holidays!

Sideboard decorated for Christmas

I added a silver tinsel tree that I got after winning a credit to Treetopia last year from Our Sixth House.  At the base of the tree I added a sheepskin, brown paper packages tied up with string and rosemary, and of course the vintage Santa I shared last week.

To offset the sparkle and shine of the tinsel tree, I decorated it with a natural Moravian star garland, cardboard ornaments my mom gave me, and natural antlers.

Tinsel Tree in dining room with natural decorationsAs a tree topper, I added this cute little gnome that hangs off a planter usually.

I thought he worked well with Santa at the base of the tree.

This area also looks pretty magical all lit up at night.

The new to me cabinet in the dining room was given a little sparkle as well.

Dining Room Cabinet with peace sign

I made the peace sign wreath with vintage lace and an embroidery hoop, and I added my glitter vintage deer and mercury glass candlesticks my dear friend Allison gave me to the top.

I love it, Cassie! Your cutting board in your kitchen cracks me up, and I might have to steal your Advent calendar idea of making it up as you go – I have the same problem here – haven’t had time to put ideas together, and the kids have been asking about it! Thanks so much for joining in this year!

Cassie, I always feel right at home everytime I visit. I chuckled with your survival station. I think you should have the elf make you your coffee. Our’s is living large over here this season.
