Happy Thursday! I am happy to share with you another amazing “it’s eclectic” home tour today and it just so happens that some of the sweetest people ever live here. I met Summer of Simple Stylings a few months back, and she is one of those people that is just beautiful inside and out, and her whole aura is just pure happiness. You can’t hang out with her and not smile. And her son Liam, who I had the opportunity to meet, is the most adorable little boy with a load of charisma! Their home is full of style, of course, but also love and personality. I know you will adore it. Please remember to pin from Summer’s blog. 🙂
Hello Primitive and Proper readers! I’m so happy to be here today to share my home with you guys. I had the pleasure of meeting Cassie in person several months ago and she is just the sweetest! Thanks so much for inviting me here Cassie!
Alright, come on in y’all…
Our home is always a work in progress because I’m constantly trying to merge style with functionality. It has to work for us or all the style in the world wouldn’t matter and I’m always trying to simplify. My love for all things coastal definitely defines my style and the way I want our home to feel. Light, bright and cozy.
We have an open floor plan and the main living area of our home is all one room; living room/entry, dining room and kitchen. Our space is small but it suits us and I really wouldn’t have time to clean anything bigger so I’m happy about that. But it does pose some storage problems and if there is too much clutter around I start to feel like I’m drowning.
This is our main living area where we hang out, play and watch TV. I think this room is actually pretty boring so I’m hoping to spruce it up some soon. I love the giant sectional but let’s just face it, it’s not the most attractive in the world and I’m always trying to come up with ways to make it more appealing. I hoping to add several more large white pillows to break it up.
This little sitting area is to the left of the couch and is one of my favorite places to sit and relax. I just went shopping in my parents storage unit and picked up this navy chair that is really growing on me 🙂
The stone fireplace surround is a DIY by my dear dad and is one of my favorite features. Our home is very cookie cutter on the inside and I think the fireplace gives it a little bit of a custom touch.
This is our small dining area that I just spruced up with this faux flower letter and fabric garland.
This is our kitchen and the only thing that has really changed in here is I removed the Christmas wreath 🙂 This baby is going to be getting a little facelift this fall so definitely check back for a kitchen update next month!
This is my son’s nautical inspired bathroom and also the only bathroom on the main floor.
This is my little man’s room. I’m sure he’s going to want a ‘big boy’ room soon but I’m keeping it little as long as I can!
The upstairs of our home has had a lot of recent updates and I didn’t realize it at the time but I’ve allowed myself to take a few design risks that I don’t think I would have taken downstairs. It’s been fun to step out of my comfort zone and see how these spaces evolved.
I recently gave my master bedroom a long overdue makeover. The basket wall and DIY coffee station are two of my favorite parts of the new room. You can see more pictures here.
I revealed my new studio/office earlier this summer and it’s full of fun DIY’s. The gallery wall and my pallet and sawhorse desk are my pride and joy in here 🙂 The re-upholstered office chair and window treatment in here were also DIY’s.
Our back deck really completes our home and allows us to entertain and hang out outside. We’ve got a chiminea and twinkly lights and when the weather is perfect, friends are over and kids are giggling it almost feels magical! Check out the deck and the DIY marquee anchor when you have a chance!
So that’s all folks 🙂 I’d love for you to head to the blog sometime and checkout our project gallery and stay tuned for lots of fall and holiday projects, room updates and home tours!
Thanks again for having me Cassie!
