And just like that it’s Thrift Score Thursday! What happened to the rest of the week? I didn’t mean to be so silent this week, but we were buried under 3 feet of snow last weekend, so Sunday when I had planned to photograph and write some, I was shoveling all day! And that is no exaggeration- my back is still sore from heaving that much snow off of our long driveway. I’ve also come down with a cold and there’s been no school this week, so the house is a wreck… I mean I could blog about it. I did say I was going to keep it more real here in 2016. I digress… let’s talk about #thriftscorethursday.
If you are new here, let me explain just what #thriftscorethursday is. We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it!
Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from For My Love Of, Brynne from The Gathered Home and a weekly guest co-host will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
This week we have the amazing and talented Maggie of Maggie Overby Studios as a guest host- I just love her eye for art!
With all of this snow I didn’t make it out of my house until yesterday, so no thrift shopping for me this week (although I did win something AMAZING in an online auction I hope to share next week!), but luckily I have hoarding tendencies so I was able to figure out something to share with you.
Back in November I headed to a flea market with my pal Sarah. We didn’t find much that day, but I did find a vintage dollhouse and was able to talk them down to $40. I hemmed and hawed, but for some reason it was just tugging at my heart so I decided to purchase it and put a high price on it at Sweet Clover, thinking I’d be happy if it sold, but also happy if I ended up taking it home and giving it some much needed TLC. I loved having it at Sweet Clover at Christmas time!
And now it’s home with me in my basement just waiting to be brought to life! I have plans for the exterior, and the inside is a blank slate, but has some interesting details.
I have been so inspired by some of the bloggers I have seen create amazing dollhouses, like Go Haus Go and Craftiness is Not Optional . This will be a fun project I would like to finish by 2025. I am setting the bar low on the timeline here. I know myself.
Now onto my features! There were SOOOO many that I truly loved, so I had to narrow it down or you’d never get to the bottom of this post.
I love my nautical inspired art, and I fell in love with this wise woman of the sea from Bobbi Style. I am currently reading a book that’s making me think about life as en elderly person- so much experience, so many hidden stories behind those eyes. I see it in this bust.
You can find Bobbi on instagram here.
OK, I had to feature this next one because it was the weirdest thing I have ever seen via #thriftscorethursday. A chimpanzee OB/GYN diorama. Need I say more? Shara, owner of Goody Girl Red, found this one and a few others you should check out!
You can find Shara on instagram here.
Find Courtney on instagram here.
Chaney of May Richer Fuller Be scored the perfect china cabinet for her dining room. I’ve got cabinet envy!
You can find Chaney on instagram here.
There was a plethora of vintage chair chicness this week. I’ve shown you one and now for two more that are unique finds! This tweedy and wood midcentury chair from Mellabobella has me wanting to curl up with a good book and a cognac. (I don’t even drink cognac).
You can find Mellabobella on instagram here.
And finally, how about this fabulous bamboo chair from Olivia Koupal, who has one of the prettiest feeds I have seen in a while, if you can’t tell from this image.
You can find Olivia on instagram here.
Now be sure to visit all of my cohosts to see their finds and features.
And don’t forget to play along each week using our tag, #thriftscorethursday, and invite by tagging your friends to play as well! Until next week, happy hunting!
