Happy Sunday! I typically don’t write blog posts on Sundays, but I wanted to hop in to remind you that today is your last chance to nab the free Mrs. Meyer’s holiday gift set I mentioned this week. It makes a fantastic hostess gift, so I figured while I was reminding you of that, I would share with you some additional favorite hostess gift ideas this year. As a guest, holiday parties are a lot of fun… dress in your best, show up and enjoy the food and beverages, maybe dance your booty off, and head home and crash, grateful for a day of recovery the next day! As a hostess, so much work goes into planning, cleaning, cooking, preparing for the event. Then at the event, the host is shuffling around from guest to guest, making sure to visit with everyone and check to see that they are enjoying themselves. Then, after the last partygoer stays too late and shuts it down, it’s time to start cleaning, or perhaps go to bed and leave the daunting task for the next day. Either way, it’s a boatload of work, so I’ve rounded up some of my favorite under $20 hostess gifts to show your party-thrower that you appreciate everything they did to make it a special night. Before you check it out, I wanted to mention something I always keep in mind when hostess gift-shopping…. although the adorable holiday themed items are soooooo very tempting, I tend to stay away from them and purchase gifts the hostess can enjoy for more than just a couple weeks. I am a huge fan of buying gifts that are consumable and can be enjoyed until they’re gone and won’t waste space, or gifts that are useful and pretty enough to use all year round.
Pineapple Spoon Rest– $13.99; Would you believe we don’t own a spoon rest? It’s one of those crazy useful items and for some reason we don’t own one ourselves. When I spied this gold and white pineapple spoon rest I thought it would make a fabulous hostess gifts because maybe other people are living their lives without one, too. The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality as well, so perfectly fitting for a hostess.
Gourmet Coffee Sampler– $15.97 ; The day after the party, your hostess may be in need of some serious caffeine! This set has great ratings and comes with 4 fantastic flavors to suit any mood. It might be nice to kick off her post party cleaning with a cup of something fresh, new, and tasty.
Metallic Rose Gold Aluminum Water Bottle– $18.50; Every time we have hosted a party, I have woken up the next morning with chapped lips, a dry throat, and a parched feeling in my mouth. It doesn’t matter whether alcohol is involved or not… when you’re hosting, you’re busy talking the entire night. This rose gold water bottle will be the perfect pretty reminder to your host to replenish herself. We are big fans of aluminum water bottles around our house.
Tartan Texting Gloves– $12.15 ; These adorable gloves will keep the hands warm and still allow you to text friends. I’ve got a few pairs of plain black gloves with this ability, but love the idea of a tartan plaid from this etsy seller. She has other styles and fabrics available as well, an you can’t beat that price.
Good Housekeeping subscription– $5/year; I love Good Housekeeping because it’s truly got something for everyone…. decor, crafts, DIY, recipes. It’s truly a great mix, and magazines are one of those little indulgences that is just lovely to receive. Each time a magazine shows up at her door, your hostess will be reminded of your thoughtfulness as well. If Good Housekeeping isn’t your thing, there are so many others available for just $5 as well.
Lemon Verbena Soy Candle– $16; After the holidays, I love to use citrus candles in my home for a fresh and clean smell… By that time I am over the baked goods and pine tree scents, and I just want a fresh clean slate. This lemon verbena candle will really freshen up your hostess’ home.
Wildflower Seed Bombs– $19; How fun and adorable are these little seed bombs? I’ve never seen anything like it! After the holidays, it’s a little something to look forward to when it’s time to garden again. You can toss them into your garden, or place them right in a flower pot!
Natural Bath Bombs– $16.95; What hostess wouldn’t love to jump in a lovely relaxing soaker tub once the party cleanup is complete? These natural and vegan bath bomb set made with essential oils will leave her feeling relaxed and at ease, and not to mention smelling great!
Beautycounter Citrus Mimosa Hand Cream– $17; This hand cream smells subtly citrus fresh and will leave overworked and tired hands feeling soft and refreshed. It’s toxin-free so you can feel 100% at ease using it as well. I am a huge fan of Beautycounter products in general and just started selling it because I love it, so feel free to reach out with any questions.
Simple Gatherings– $11.57; This book by Melissa Michaels of The Inspired Room contains 50 ideas for easy and affordable get togethers… hopefully your hostess loves throwing parties so much that she’ll want to have many more and this book will give her some great new ideas that will help take the stress away from party planning.
And of course, don’t forget about your free Mrs. Meyer’s Holiday Set which makes a great hostess gift as well!
And now I am off to work at J. Crew for the day, ready to help those holiday shoppers and party-goers find just the right outfits!
