Happy Monday morning to you! What a weekend it was for us… busy busy celebrating our first Christmas with my in-laws in town, and then Sunday disaster struck us all!!! Sunday morning at 3 am I awoke and couldn’t fall back to sleep. An hour later Chris woke up because he was sick, so that kept me up as well. My in-laws headed out to the airport only to get stuck in the power outage mess in Atlanta… stuck in the terminal with no food, no power, no chance of even trying to leave. It was not a great day for our family, and as much as Mondays are, well, Mondays… I think anything is better than yesterday as of now! Today I wanted to share with you a fun town Christmas tradition our little hometown started a few years back: Snowmen on Main. Last week you saw my Christmas porch tour featuring the snowman we created for its inaugural year. W’re excited today to show you our 2017 snowman, designed by Emmy. (And we’re also here to beg you for votes. Pretty please! Details at the bottom of the post on how and where to vote).
Emmy knew exactly what she wanted to make from the get-go… a polar bear! Together we drew a design and she decided to add a North Pole sign. I helped where needed, cutting the ears from plywood, the sign from an old fence post; the red and white candy cane striped picket was part of our Christmas decor a few years ago and I happened to have it on hand for her to use. In the end, here is how our polar bear turned out…. (I have used photos from Myersville Parks & Rec for this post).
I wanted to share a few others that caught my eye or are somehow special to me as well.
This one below has been at the main intersection each year, so it’s a sign of the season to us.
My friend created this Maryland gnome- isn’t he adorable?!?! She’s so clever and creative!
This guy from our farmer’s market has my heart with his crate of “locally grown noses.”
Emmy’s girl scout troop painted and designed this sweet gingerbread girl.
And T-Rex jokes never get lost on me, so I was dying of laughter when I saw this guy!
There are so many more worth checking out at the Myersville Parks & Rec facebook page.
Now I am going to put away any shame I have and ask you to head over and vote for Emmy’s! I am so proud of her for coming up with this design on her own! The winner will get a gift card, and I know she’d be thrilled to win. To vote, all you have to do is head over to the photo of the polar bear snowman on the Myersville Parks & Rec page, and give it a like. You can find the photo of ours here.
Emmy and I thank you for checking out our polar bear snowman and for your vote! Also… um…. Christmas is one week away!!!!!!!
