Tomorrow kicks off our Sweet Clover August sale, and Katie and I have been hard at work bringing in new pieces of furniture and finds, styling and staging, cleaning and photographing (OK, so Katie took all of these photos!). This month there is a friendly competition between vendors… it’s a creative bookshelf or book display contest. We created a couple of book display vignettes so I wanted to share those with you today as well. Perhaps if you own a vintage shop, it will give you some ideas. Come on in!
This month we went with what we do best.. blues, greens, blacks, and woods, and we added in touches of red to hint at fall.
At the entry to the space sits my teal and wood midcentury dresser.
We’ve brought some blues and natural tones in with the styling on top.
On the opposite side of the entry sits Katie’s midcentury hutch, which she’s marked down drastically. I am SOOOO tempted because I want to change out the hutch in my own dining room. We’ve filled it with more blue and green and it’s the perfect balance to the teal and wood dresser.
Katie brought in a gorgeous dresser painted in a dark olive green and it’s a beauty!
To the left of the green dresser sits a black hutch I have had there for a bit. We styled it as a bookcase and it’s one of our entries in the contest. Again we filled it will blues and greens in books, glassware, and layered art. Don’t mind the streaks on the top of the bottom section… I totally forgot to bring my cleaner and thus dusted the space with baby wipes. Seriously.
Our other entry in the contest is a desk staged with crates of red books and apples. This was an idea that I had, even though I am not a red person. I thought it would be fun, seasonal, back to school-ish. I also thought it would be fun to have vintage fruit crates filled with actual fruit. 😉 Katie thought I was nuts for this idea, but in the end it came together nicely.
On top of the teal dresser sit a few green wooden boxes with amber glass bottles, mimicking the colors present at the entry to our space. I just love how they catch the light.
Lastly, I want to show you this gorgeous wood and navy dresser that Katie refinished… swoon!
