A Raspberry Red Bed and Some Fall Announcements

Happy Tuesday and happy October!  I am going to tell you now this week is going to be a little crazy, so I apologize now if I don’t reply to emails, or visit your blogs- I will do my best to stay on top!

Anyhow, I don’t do custom orders anymore, as I have mentioned before.  But I had worked with Danielle before on a desk for her daughter, and I just really enjoyed working with her family.  They were vey sweet and down to earth and relatable.  So when she emailed me to ask if I would paint a bed for her daughter and their kitchen tabletop I decided to do it.

The bed started out like this…

In the above picture I had actually sanded it.  Danielle had chosen the color from Benjamin Moore and I had recommended she buy their tinted primer and have it tinted the same color.  I primed it with two coats to give it a solid base, and then applied 4 coats of tricycle red paint in aura satin finish.  Red is so tricky to work with- even with the great primer, I still needed 4 coats!!!  When it was finished, I lightly distressed it, and I gave it a clear coat of wax.  Here is the result!

 (Please disregard my dusty fingerprint!)

Such a fun color!  I sure hope she sends me a picture of it in the room!

Before I leave you today, I have a couple of fun Fall announcements!
First, I am participating in a Pumpkin Parade with some awesome fellow bloggers!  I can’t wait to share my pumpkin project with you next Monday!
