Bathroom Mini Update Plan

Good Monday, friends!  Hope you had a great weekend and that your week is off to a fantastic start, despite the fact that it’s unavoidably Monday. A coupld of years ago, I gave our guest bathroom, which is now more of Emmy’s bathroom, a little paint makeover.  I went outside my comfort zone with pink, and when I suggested repainting it, my idea for change was received negatively by the kids.  Apparently, they love the pink.  Because of that, we’re keeping the pink,  but it has needed new lighting since the old lighting was put in.  (I don’t know who picked out the atrocity of a fixture in there!).  It’s finally time to replace that light, and while we’re at it, make a few other minor changes to make it a more fun space for Emmy who spends the most time in there.  Today I want to show you my bathroom mini update plan.

I used polyvore to put together this mood board to share the new plan with you.

Pink Eclectic Bathroom Mood Board

Fox Print/ Mirror / Light Fixture / Let it Be Print / Shower Curtain / Cloud Bath Mat

We’re working with several of the pieces we already had, like the shower curtain, and the existing vanity (which is not the one above, but similar in colors), but a few things are changing.  To refresh your memory, here’s what it looked like after that makeover.  And do you see that awful fixture I am referring to?  If you ever consider one like it, just don’t.

I am thrilled to have a few companies working with me on this little update. Silicate Studio reached out to me which initially got the bowl rolling.  They create awesome hardware for floating shelves, and they have a great selection of reclaimed mirrors (currently not in their etsy shop as they are revamping their studio).  We selected the mirror pictured in the moodboard to replace the green malachite looking one.  Although I’ve loved that mirror, we wanted to soften the space and the new mirror, called the El Porto,  will do just that with its finish and shape.

Once the mirror was selected, I got to work on choosing a new light fixture which we’ll change ourselves.  I feel much more confident about electrical work since we changed all of our ceiling fans out last year.  I reached out to Lamps Plus and was happy that they were willing to partner with me on this project.  As a sidenote, I only partner with companies I would also buy from.  And I did, indeed, just purchase new exterior lights from Lamps Plus as well.  We chose the Fillmore fixture.  Most of the lighting changes we’ve made ourselves in the house have leaned to a more industrial style, so I wanted to keep it cohesive in here, and the silver tones work well with the existing faucet.  This fixture can be turned up or down, and I will decide on that once I have it here.

The vintage rug looked awesome in the bathroom, but unfortunately it slid, even with a pad, so I decided to ditch it.  For a while we’ve used an old striped Ikea bath mat that we had, but I decided to purchased a new one to make it more fun for Emmy.  She and I sat down together and looked at several options, but the one she truly loved was the winking cloud bathmat from Urban Outfitters.  We were contemplating another they had that we loved, but it was not machine washable.  With 3 dogs, 2 kids, and mud from the chicken area coming into our house, “spot clean only” is no bueno.  The cloud mat has a non-slip backing, is machine washable, and is incredibly adorable.

Cloud Bath Mat

The shower curtain was not actually in my original makeover as I had ordered it slightly too late and it didn’t meat my deadline.  But it is something we’ve had for a couple of years.  Ours actually reads, “The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep. -Robert Frost.” I didn’t see that one in the shop, but it’s similar to this one:

Calla & Clover Shower Curtain I selected it from etsy and loved the graphic look as well as the Frost quote.  The maker, Calla and Clover, has several other quotes available as well as deer, woodsy and graphic prints, and she sells pillows, tapestries, duvets, art prints, and more.  You can also customize your own quote. She’s definitely worth checking out!  I am actually kind of obsessed with this log slice pillow.

Now let’s talk about the art which, in my opinion, really stands out, adds color, and makes the space.  The Let it Be print was part of the original makeover, and it was a downloadable print I found on etsy.  I had contacted the artist to create a larger scale download for me, and she obliged.  I love the saying (and maybe should listen to those words more often!), and am happy that it brings in a little punch of succulents.

The last piece to this makeover happened to come to me this weekend when Mary-Catheryn, artist extraordinaire whom I follow on instagram and greatly admire, reached out and asked me if I’d like a print of hers for my home.  Would I?!?!  You bet!  I perused her shop, Copper Corners, and decided on “Enchantment” which is perfect for me, and will bring in even more color to this room.

Isn’t that just the most magical fox you’ve ever seen?  Mary-Catheryn recently shared her home tour at The Gathered Home (one of my favorite blogs, of course!).  This is a peek, but you have GOT to see the rest!

There you have it!  Minor changes to be made, but I think they are going to create a fresher, softer, and more fun space, perfect for my little bathing beauty.

Thanks so much to Lamps Plus, Silicate Studios, and Copper Corners for partnering with me on this bathroom refresh.  This post uses affiliate links for your convenience.
