Beachy Bathroom Art & a Giveaway!

I was awoken at 5 a.m. this morning to the sound of a sick 5 year old. Sawyer officially has a stomach bug. I thought we were going to make it through this season with just some minor colds, but I was wrong! I kept Emmy busy today and out of the house in hopes of keeping her healthy. Luckily, I needed to go to IKEA anyhow…

After I painted the bathroom yesterday, I knew that new art was going to be a must. The black framed vintage butterfly print (from an old encyclopedia)isn’t going to work with the new shower curtain that is on its way, and the black frame didn’t really pop against the dark blue walls. (It will be for sale if anyone is interested- I am happy to ship it!)  So off to IKEA I went with Emmy. We had to get some frames for the gallery wall I am putting together for her room, and I came up with an idea for new bathroom art and needed a square RIBBA frame for that as it has more of a shadowbox style to it.

This project was super easy- I had everything else on hand. I used some scrapbook paper with a funky but subtle design, a sand dollar I found in South Carolina, some hot glue and some white paint. I had never bleached the sand dollar, and I wanted it white, so I sprayed it with a little flat spray paint and let it dry. While it dried, I cut out a piece of scrapbook paper, centerting my design to fit in the square mat of the frame. Then I added a glob of hot glue to the center of my paper and placed the dried sand dollar in the center of the paper, let it dry, and framed it. And voila… easy bathroom art that will suit the new shower curtain much more. πŸ™‚

And now for the fun part- the giveaway!!!  You may remember when I hit 1000 followers I did a little uinconventional giveaway and did a customized gift for Suzanne of Meridian Road.  I made something just for her that I thought she would like.  And I want to do it again for one of you!  It was such a fun giveaway to do!  So here are the ways you can enter….

2. Leave a comment telling me your most favorite thing about Spring.
3. If you were to go out for a walk or run, what would be playing on your Ipod?  Leave a comment to answer.
4. Find me on facebook and like me!  I will probably never bother you on facebook, but it’s always nice to know I am liked. πŸ™‚

That’s it folks!  Oh, and the giveaway will be open through Thursday, March 17th at midnight EST, winner announced on Friday!  I figure it gives you through St. Patty’s Day- let’s see if your luck holds up!

My favorite thing about spring is the weather. I love to be able to spend hours outside with the kids and not be 1) freezing or 2) eaten alive by mosquitoes!

I am not a runner, I’m a yogi. Obviously the music we listen to in yoga would probably not make for good running music πŸ™‚ But if I were a runner, I’d probably listen to something like Vampire Weekend because their music makes me want to move!

My favorite thing about spring is being able to open the windows and get some fresh air in the house. Plus, I LOVE watching my sheers blow in the breeze – so calming.

If I went out for a walk, I’d probably listen to something old school – like Bee Gees or something. LOL. I love that old disco music! πŸ˜€
