My Black, White, and Glimmering Eclectic Holiday Mantle

How many adjectives can I use in a title before I cross the line?  Don’t answer that, because I might have just crossed it.  But I wasn’t sure how to describe this holiday mantle other than black, white, and glimmering, and of course eclectic.

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and holiday weekend!  For the first time since I have known Chris, he was off the day after Thanksgiving…. it was AMAZING.  We were able to spend much more time together as a family, decorate the house, make cookies, cut down our tree and more!  Typically the weekend after Thanksgiving Chris is at work and I am fending for myself trying to decorate the house while keeping the peace with the kids.  So this past weekend was a total gift to me.

One of my favorite spaces to decorate seasonally is my mantle.  This year I am simplifying Christmas a bit, using pieces I already own, and not putting out as much as I have in the past- it feels really good!

Black, White, and Sparkly Holiday MantlePin
You might notice that some of the decor stayed the same from our Thanksgiving mantle.  The hearth stayed pretty much exactly the same, except one of the deer donned a glitter party hat, left over from last year’s New Year’s mantle.

The garlands also stayed the same as Thanksgiving, and I added in the Moravian star garland my parents gave me a couple years ago.  I love the natural rustic vibe it brings.

Mantle with feather garland, pom pom garland, and rustic moravian star garlandPin

Other than that, I used candlesticks I had in the dining room, I used the existing books that were on the mantle, and simply covered them with white craft paper and gave them Christmas titles in black, deer that I glittered a couple years ago, and disco ball ornaments I found a year and a half ago at a yard sale!  Oh, and the trees are from target a few years ago purchased on Christmas clearance.  And of course I added lights. 🙂

The left side features books, trees, and disco balls.

I just love how all of these pieces combine to create this mantle.  If you look closely below, you can see I was wearing a bright “radiant orchid” fleece when I shot these.

And the right side holds my favorite glitter deer, and more books and disco balls, and my candlesticks (which were once a thrift find).

And all together it combines to create what might be my favorite holiday mantle I’ve done!

I believe you can never have enough shiny deer.  Am I right? 😉black, white, and sparkling holiday mantlePin

And this last photo is more of an outtake- the blankets are a mess on the couches, but I just had to get a pic of these two boys sleeping in the living room, breathing life, contentment, and coziness into this little space of ours.

Thank you so much for checking out my holiday mantle!  In writing this post, I looked back on year’s past, and it’s fun to see how my style has evolved over the 3 years that we’ve lived here.  I thought it would be fun to share here.

FYI we still have and adore the gorgeous needlepoint stockings my mother in law made!  We just wait to put them out because we use the fireplace often. 🙂

Your mantel is SO SO beautiful Cassie. I love that star garland. And the dipped feathers. Oh and disco balls too. And glitter and deer and everything nice. I just love it Cassie. It was also so much fun seeing the mantles of past years. I just love that leather pouffe of 2013. Is that a vintage find?
