Happy Friday! I am so glad it’s finally here because that means it is my turn to share my Thanksgiving table with you as part of the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours Thanksgiving edition. To be honest with you, two weeks ago I had no idea what sort of table I would put together, but after I painted my sideboard, I decided I wanted a light table bringing in the pale aqua of the sideboard and the blues and greens of my dining room’s seascapes. I had also picked up a bunch of small vintage bottles and taken a trip to New England where I dipped my own candles at Yankee Candle’s flagship store, so everything just sort of came together to create a blue and green Thanksgiving table.
I shared this image on instagram this past weekend as a little teaser. My table was not inspired by this L.M. Montgomery quote; however, when I read those words after shooting it, I couldn’t help but think how fitting they were for the mood I was creating.
Isn’t it a lovely quote? What draws me to the sea and the colors therein are not only the calming effect, but the moodiness and sadness that seems to linger hidden in its expanse. I’ve always been one to play the melancholic tunes in Autumn… something about this season just makes me dwell in the depths of my spirit. With that mood in mind, I went about creating my tablescape…. And don’t get me wrong, it’s not a depressed mood; just a more pensive, reflective mood. I actually quite love this time and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.
I did not have the exact dishes that I wanted to use, so I reached out to my friends at Silk & Burlap and asked permission to use some of their pieces for my shoot and they graciously obliged. I borrowed white and aqua dishes from their collection from Vietri. These dishes are stunning and handmade in Tuscany from terra cotta. They are quite dreamy!
The water jug is beautiful as well- I love the shape of it!
I also borrowed a large rustic cutting board from their kitchen collection, and a beautiful throw blanket in grays, whites, and blacks with furry tassels on the ends. These two pieces helped me create the centerpiece of the table.
I mixed it in with my own silverware and goblets, pine branches from my yard, and pumpkins left from my Fall tour. Then to create the place cards I rolled up ivory paper and stuck it into tiny vintage bottles, and wrote everyone’s name on them… super simple, but perfect for my space.
I loved that each bottle was a little different but the colors all worked together perfectly.
The water goblets were passed down from my grandmother, and I love that they add a little bit of refinery to the table.
In the center of the table, I used the cutting board from Silk & Burlap to anchor the space, and also provide a level surface for my candlesticks. I used a mix of brass candlesticks I had on hand, and a mix of candles in blues and greens. The gradient candles were dipped by yours truly at the Yankee Candle flagship store in Deerfield, MA a couple weeks ago, and I was thrilled how they turned out! And I didn’t have this table planned at the time, so it was pure luck that they worked out so well. Plus, I just love blue and green, so I suppose it’s not a shock that they fit right in.
What’s really funny is that I honestly was having second thoughts about my painted sideboard… I questioned whether I had selected the right color for it. After seeing it in this room with the table all set, I am convinced that it’s as it should be.
The colors of the seascapes and sideboard are reflected in the table. (And if you look really closely, you will see Chris’ legs propped up on the coffee table with Catcher sitting next to him as he was watching football while I was doing this shoot. Just keeping it real!)
I just love how this table all came together and brought in all of the existing colors of the space around it. Even though it is not the traditional warm tones of Thanksgiving, the textures all help bring in that cozy feel I always try to cultivate in my home.
