Bohemian Modern Springish Mantle

I am so ready for Spring, are you?  We had a couple nice days this past week and I finally pulled my winter decor off the porch.  In the living room I also changed up the mantle which was still in its minimal Valentine’s mode.  I wasn’t sure what exactly I would put on the mantle this time around as it’s not really Spring yet, but I am over winter (you hear that, Mother Nature- OVER WINTER!)  I walked around my house to see what I might be able to use and the first thing that caught my eye was some midcentury wooden antelopes I’ve had in the guest room for a while, but were sitting in a box of “To Go to Sweet Clover” stuff.  Using a couple of those, I pieced together my bohemian modern Springish mantle.

If you look back on my Valentine’s mantle, you can see that the changes I made were truly very simple.  Here is that one to refresh your memory.

Black and White Valentine's Mantle- EclecticPin

These days I much prefer simple and easy changes.  On the left side I added a stack of blue vintage books that were previously in my guest room.  I use these books simply as props to add height, but I also love that they are classics my kids will one day read– like Treasure Island.  I also added one of my milk glass potted plants to bring some of the green to this side of the mantle.   I also kept my stripped and dipped candlesticks– they might be one of my favorite DIYs to date because they certainly are getting a lot of use through each season.  The antelope I added on this side is a nursing mama, and to me that speaks of Spring.

On the right side, I balanced the left with another wooden antelope, but in a seated position.  I like to think of him as the papa, keeping watch.  I left the vintage books and a different milk glass potted plant from the previous mantle styling.  The two sides mimic one another but vary slightly.

Isn’t he handsome?

This room has definitely had some minor changes as of late with the “new” vintage glass coffee table, and I can’t wait to share with you which art print I selected.  The overall vibe is a little suffocating and I love how it feels!

I was worried that this table would show dust and dirt and fingerprints and in general just drive me insane, but it’s been amazing!  The room feels so much lighter!  And because less is more these days, this Springish mantle will most likely survive as the official Spring mantle as well. 😉
