As you saw in my Spring tour I’ve been making a few minor changes to our master bedroom, including a change to all white bedding. Lately I find myself drawn to much more natural elements like warm wood tones, plant life, and pure white cotton. I decided to bring those items all together to create a peaceful retreat, our boho modern white & wood master bedroom. (Although ask him his thoughts on boho and he won’t be as passionate as I am!)
One of the major changes to this space which you won’t notice so much from these images is a new mattress. We received a gel memory foam mattress from Addable to review. Addable is a truly affordable memory foam mattress, and they also offer free shipping which is crucial- often we don’t have the vehicles to cart our mattresses home! Our new mattress arrived in February but I wanted to give myself time to sleep on it, literally, before I shared my thoughts with you. And in the mean time I thought I would show you the minor changes to the space as well.
But first, let me show you something really embarrassing… now, you may not have noticed unless you really stared at our house photos, but my husband and I had created some awesome divots on our old mattress. Check out this image below from last summer. If you look closely, you can see the two big dents in our mattress from where we were sleeping, and that was after only 4 years of use.We did not have a memory foam mattress, and clearly we both like to sleep on our own sides of the bed. #weshouldprobablycuddlenow
The new mattress from Addable arrived, and we opened it in Sawyer’s room, just to have more space to get it out as his beds had been removed in order to make room for our old mattress that he’d be getting. I was at work when Chris set it up, but I can tell you that Sawyer was in LOVE with the Addable, and when I came home he let me know he was upset that he was not getting the new mattress which in his words was “so comfy!”
Sorry kiddo, you get the old one! Chris told him that we had to have the new one so I could review it and then maybe we would switch. But after sleeping on it for the last month, there’s NO way I am swapping back to that old mattress!
Do you see how nice and level this one is?My favorite thing about this mattress is that it has no “bounce.” That took some getting used to at first, because I was used to sitting down and having my mattress bounce back at me. With this one, I sit down and nothing moves.
Chris and I sleep on different schedules, so this lack of bounce is life changing for us. I go to bed around 10 each night, where he goes to bed around midnight or so. He can now easily get into bed without me feeling a thing, and I continue to sleep like a rock happily on my side of the bed.
I also get up very early in the morning. Each day of the week, I am awake at 4:50 to head out the door and greet the morning air with a little exercise and a good friend. (Followed immediately by my other good morning friend, coffee.) I won’t say that I don’t disturb Chris because I know the alarm going off and the shuffling around the room bugs him a bit, but at least now he can’t feel me rolling out of bed, too. 😉
So while we are in here I thought we could talk about some other minor changes that have been made. As you can see, the lamps have been replaced. I do love my other lamps and they’re just being stored for now, but I wanted something clean and modern that wouldn’t distract from anything else. I also wanted to bring in some of the gold from the nightstands and found the perfect pair at Ikea.
I did discus some of the other changes in my Spring tour last week, like the dresser restyling…
the pillows, and the bedspread. I actually had no idea how much Chris liked this bedspread until he told me he was happy to see it again. (It’s been on our bed in the past). Of course, I don’t think he cares much about the style, but to him it’s the perfect weight- all about the comfort!
I noticed when I was shooting the space something very cool about the bedspread, too. Check out the pattern on the bed and the pattern in my screen headboard. They really mimic each other, don’t they?
And for those of you who are panicking at the lack of color, don’t worry. This beauty stated on the wall facing my bed. And now it serves as the pop of color in the room. Although to be fair, I tried to get Emmy to trade her white dresser with me, but she wouldn’t budge. Chris told me I should just do it, but I value her opinion and want her to love her space. (And by love her space I mean trash it and leave dirty clothes everywhere).
And I also kept the touch of green in my dormer nook.So what do you think of the changes? Are you team neutral or team color? I tend to bounce around, so I am sure I will be changing it again in the future, but it’s just right for me at this moment in time. Everything from the peaceful, natural decor to the clean lines and Addable gel memory foam mattress have me achieving the ultimate sleep- at least until my alarm goes off at 4:50 AM.
*I was provided with a gel memory foam mattress from Addable. I was not otherwise compensated. All opinions are my own and are 100% honest! I would highly recommend this mattress for an affordable memory foam!
