BSHT Series: My Favorite Room (Kitchen and Source List!)

Happy Friday!  At the Bustamante house we’ve survived the first week of school, and already had several other firsts this week….. first homework fight, first shoe break at school…. it’s been eventful.  We like to keep things interesting around here.  Anyhow, to keep up with the blog hop theme I unintentionally have going on this week, I’ve got one more for you.  Today I am participating in Blogger Stylin Home Tours (BSHT): My Favorite Room Edition, put together by Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co..  All week long bloggers have been sharing their beautiful favorite rooms in their homes, and today I am sharing mine.

favorite-room-edition-graphicPin

If you are hopping over from C.R.A.F.T., welcome!  I am excited today to share with you one of my favorite rooms.  It’s really a toss up between my kitchen and my dining room, which are open to one another.  But just last week we saw the dining room’s latest updates, so I figured it would be a great time to share the kitchen.  Both of these rooms display my signature style, moody free spirited collector; and I never gave you all a final source list, so I thought it would be a good time to bring that to you as I often get email questions about certain pieces. (This is a long post, with a list of bloggers at the end as well…. the source list will appear at the VERY end after that).

Not much has changed in this room in the past two months since its original reveal, so I am going to borrow some images from that post.

This space uses some of my favorite colors- blue, blue, blue, a little gray, and a little minty green.

kitchen9Pin

The recycled glass tile backsplash was labor intensive, but well worth my efforts.  It’s one of the first things people notice now when they enter our home (most people enter through our kitchen door).

This space incorporates industrial, moody, sea inspired, vintage….. a little bit of everything I love.

kitchen13Pin

The cabinets were another DIY project- I reused the existing 1979 cabinets and updated them with my favorite navy paint and new hardware.  They look fabulous with a sweet puppy.  Pretty much anything looks fabulous with a sweet puppy, so I like to throw him in the picture when possible.kitchen catcherPin

One of the most functional elements of this room, and definitely the most commented on, is the amazing industrial look island my neighbor built for me (and I painted/finished).

kitchen8Pin

The island provides us with tons of storage, as well as a place to sit and eat, do homework, or, in my case, blog.  And of course, I had a blast accessorizing it with completely useable pieces of our daily living.

islandcratesPin

Above the island, we hung the pendant lights I had been lusting after for a while….

kitchen lightsPin

Above the sink we chose another industrial pendant which works perfectly with the island lights and the dining fixture. (Please don’t judge my dirty windows- they are impossible to clean!!!  I keep thinking one day I will be able to afford to have a professional do it, but not yet!  Keeping it real.)

kitchen sink pendantPin

We infused industrial touches in some of the furnishings as well.  Rather than adding expensive cabinetry, we added an inexpensive industrial shelf and a vintage chippy minty green file cabinet on either side of the refrigerator.

kitchen14PinAnd of course the fun part was accessorizing!  I won this adorable arrow cutting board in a giveaway from Smitten Studio.  The milk glass head vase was a vintage find I treated myself to.  I fill her head with lies herbs.

kitchen crock and head vase arrow cutting boardPin

The art and vintage glassware are some of my favorite accessories in the room.  They bring it all together.
