Before I get into Christmas crafts, I thought I would share one last bit of Halloween.  Goodbye Halloween 2012.  You have been so much fun, and I think our best Halloween ever!

Pin
Pre- trick or treating…. Emmy is brimming with excitement!

Count Von Sawyer

Pin
Belle got the cold just as I was taking the picture, but I love this one.

Pin
Part of the giant crew we trick or treated with.  Isn’t my friend Kerr’s house awesome?!?!?

And as you can see Sawyer opted not to wear the makeup or use the blood capsules… which left them for me to play with.  I sent this picture to Chris and to my parents and told them Count Von Sawyer had gotten me….

Pin

He he.

As most of you know, this nation was hit pretty hard with Hurricane Sandy earlier this week.  My hear goes out to those dealing with the devastation from this storm.  We live in an area that was supposed to be one of the hard hit areas, but we completely lucked out and maintained power, and just have a lot of leaves and pine needles to clean up.  But because of the storm, schools were closed and all the malls were closed, which meant no work for Chris.  Our entire family was home on Monday!  Chris could not do any work, so he and Sawyer played several rounds of Battleship and built a huge puzzle.  Emmy drifted between helping them, and helping me with some Christmas crafts.  She saw glitter come out, and of course she wanted to help me!  Here are several of the things I created while cooped up….

First up, I found this cool wire tree shaped display piece at the flea market last weekend.  I planned on taking it to the barn to display ornaments to sell.  But when I started sifting through supplies Monday, I found some crystal chandelier pieces I had.  I made wire hoops for those that didn’t have them, and decorated the “tree”.  I will be keeping this as my dining room centerpiece this Christmas season. I didn’t quite have enough crystals for the entire tree, but I just love it!  It’s a perfect mix of sparkles and rustic!

Pin

Pin

Next up some deer…. I found the papier mache deer at Goodwill.  He was gold, but I painted him white.  The two little guys are some vintage plastic deer I found at a yard sale.  I didn’t paint those as you can see.  For all of them, I used Elmer’s Glue (Thanks for the tip from Ali who told me that according to Martha, good old Elmer’s is best for glitter!), painting it onto their antlers and then sprinkling with white gold glitter

Pin

I love these little guys, even if some kid colored one of them with a little green one time!

Pin

I had bought some craft boxes a while back to create some gift boxes for Christmas.  I decided to Mod Podge vintage book pages from a 1949 Golden Book Twas the Night Before Christmas, and also a vintage Santa book.  The One in the upper left corner is a vintage Christmas postcard cut to size.  I painted the bases for a little contrast, and added glitter to the edges of the tops using Elmer’s again.  As you can see I also added a glittered “25” to one of them with glue.

Pin

I decorated some fun plaques I purchased a while back from Pick Your Plum in the same fashion with book pages and glitter.    These will get holes drilled at the top and twine woven through them so they can hang on door knobs, cabinets, doors, trees, wherever!  I have yet to do that because the drill was out in the garage…

Pin

This guy is my favorite!  This one is from the vintage Santa book.

Pin

A while back I had picked up a set of 4 small wooden candlesticks and painted them white.  I was feeling pretty uninspired about them, so guess what?  You got it- they got glittered!  I painted them with Elmer’s sprinkled them with white gold glitter, and now I love them!  How fun are they?

Pin

And finally, I created a tinsel wreath.  I had a straw wreath form on hand, vintage ornaments, and a couple silver tinsel garlands.  I wrapped the wreath and glued the garland in place, and then used hot glue to attach the ornaments.  I chose my favorite retro Christmas color combination of aqua, red, and pink, which I thought suited the silver tinsel.

Pin

Pin

And if you are observant you may have noticed these photos were taken in my dining room and you may have noticed a change in there….. More to come on that.  Perhaps tomorrow.  Perhaps next week.  Stay tuned. 🙂

I had so much fun using my hurricane time to be productive!  All of these items, with exception to the tree which I am keeping, will be available at the November and December barn sale!  Hope to see you there!

You go, girl!! While I don’t wish for a storm, I DO wish for a couple of days to do exactly this — craft and piddle to get ready for the holidays. 🙂

I enjoy seeing children dressed up for Hallowe’en on blogs. We don’t get any coming to our house and my 3 children are too old now I used to make every one of their costumes. Your children look adorable, and YOU… didn’t you have enough blood on you this year already? LOL

Your neck wound may have come at a good time… you can stay up late creating, and pull the shades by day as you craft your Christmas wares.

I love the reindeer with the sparkly antlers. I keep looking for some pretty reindeer to put on my mantle, but I may be like you and have to do them myself.

Christmas has near to come and people have started to decorate their houses. Some of them purchased new things where as other people have modified their home and interiors.

We have been gone for what feels like ever and I feel enough out of the loop … but then I see Christmas crafts and I think ‘oh goodness, I am waaaaay out of the loop’. But I am a firm believer that glitter makes everything better.

And because I’m cheap like that I water down my elmers when I use it for glitter. Stretch that penny any way I can. 🙂
