Color My World Coral!

I was so excited when Suzy asked me to participate in a series she and Jessamie put together called “Color My World”.  The idea is that each participant chooses a color that they do not use in their homes generally, and put it to use in a decor project, paint project, and fabric project.  I love playing with color, so I was a definite YES! Sign me up!’

I went through so many colors in my head…. I thought about black.  But there is a reason I don’t use it and I knew I couldn’t embrace it.  I tried it in my last house once on a dresser.  It lasted for 3 weeks and I just couldn’t live with it.  So then I selected canary yellow.  But after thinking about it, that color felt just too easy.  I was too happy to do yellow projects and of course, this is supposed to be a challenge.  I knew I wanted something that would complement the current colors I have in my main living spaces, like my dining room and my living room.  So after talking it over with my mom, I ended up choosing….

CORAL

I am really excited about this color- it’s lively, fresh, a little feminine, a little beachy.  I think it will bring a nice bright pop of color to our home.  And of course the day I made my decision I immediately went to work pinning… naturally.   Let’s take a look at some of my coral pinspiration! And I went a little pin-happy, so just click on the word “pinspiration” above to see all of the images I have collected.

colors. my grandma had a built in china cupboard with this same coral behind the white shelves, in her green dining room. go, grandma!
I love the colors here- the yellow, too!  Via

I love the vibe of this space!  Via

I love the paint on the inside of the cabinet. Paired with the coral chairs it' adorable

So what do you think?  Are you sold on coral like I am?  It is certainly anting me to give my house a more eclectic and vibrant look.  Choosing one teeny tiny color just might be the snowball…. Watch out, Chris!  Nothing in our home is safe.

Also with this challenge, we are inviting you, our readers to follow along, choose a color, and create a post sharing your color’s projects.  At the very end we will have a link party for you to show off your new colors!  Fun, right?  Time to push yourself creatively and climb out of your comfort zone.  You can do it!
Here is a complete list of all the bloggers participating.  I encourage you to check them out and follow along!  It’s going to be colorful and fun!

I dyed a scarf last week and I used my same old boring colors (blues and greens) but a couple of my classmates threw a splash of orange in their scarves and they looked amazing – that little splash of color made a huge difference.

I wondered about all of the coral on your pinterest boards. I’ve found them very helpful because I’ve been thinking coral and navy or aqua or tangerine for the office. Can’t decide. I love that second inspiration photo you included.

I am totally sold! Hence my header. I really like the idea of coral furniture bc then it’s less permanent than say expensive matching accent chairs. Id like to be bolder, but I think it’s best through things that can easily change or inexpensive so when the new color comes out that I love I can change it all again!

I love the coral, but what I’m really loving is that moodboard of the nursery…I’m filing that one away.

I also recognized my target shower curtain which was used as curtains in that last picture. Very creative.

Can’t wait to see what you do with the coral!

I LOVE coral. I have an entire board for it on pinterest.

I know what you mean about challenging yourself; I think I’ve already used just about every color I like in my house. I ended up not really challenging myself, but hopefully it turns out ok in the end.

I’m definitely goign to follow along! My house has been getting some color added to every room (or needs to!) after I took a ton of color out (brick red dining room, baby poop brown trim matched with blue in bedroom, mustard brown in living room paired with chocolate brown trim, avocado green kitchen…). My front porch is going to get a shot of color this weekend and I can’t wait!!

I do a “Crushing On” series, and coral is one of the crushes I featured. I recognize some of those photos you used in the post. I have a can of coral paint that I meant to use about 6 months ago, but I still haven’t bitten the bullet … even though I love the color. I guess I’m just waiting on the right piece for the right place!
