It’s my pleasure to introduce you today to Danielle of Fresh Quince. I have just recently “met” Danielle who found my blog through an item I was advertising for sale on DC’s Craigslist as she does a Friday’s Finest Finds feature on her blog and usually keeps it local. I am going to have the opportunity to really meet her in person Saturday at the local Blogger’s Brunch, and I can’t wait! She has got an amazing eye for color, pattern, and details. If you haven’t yet, you need to pop over and see her beautiful blog!
The color Cassie chose for me is PURPLE! Yes, purple! So let me begin my journey on the path to purple. Phlox, also the name of a pretty purple flower, made the cut for Pantone’s hottest colors for 2011…

Growing up my mother always said that too much purple is overwhelming, but every room needs a touch of its royal hue. I asked her about this the other day and she doesn’t remember where she got that important life affirming tip ;). Below are a few (and I really mean a few) touches of purple throughout my home…

For my initial profile picture I wanted something to pop against my vibrant orange sofa, so I wore my violet shirt…
For the past two years my son has been asking me to paint his room turquoise with lavender polka dots…uh, I don’t think so. I’m patiently awaiting a return to sanity. How about a purple ceiling instead Mr. C?…
I have always believed that purple and red are just not meant for each other until I saw this image in House Beautiful…
When I first met my husband’s father I was intrigued by the bright pink shed he had in his backyard. When I nonchalantly inquired about the shed I learned that my father-in-law’s favorite color is lavendar, but he inadvertently selected the wrong color and ended up with what the neighbors called the Barbie Doll home. So when he had to move into a one bedroom condo, I came to the rescue and chose a calming pale amethyst for his living space…
And warm and restful lilac for his bedroom…
Two years ago my friend told me she wanted to paint her dining room dark spiced plum. She showed me a swatch and instantly I was doubtful, but she’s my friend and I truly believe that style and color are so subjective. Just because I wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean its wrong, so I helped her paint. It was dark! Silver to the rescue. I had an old calendar with vintage ocean prints that complimented the dark plum. I had her buy inexpensive frames and spray paint them silver and then inserted the prints…
Finally, how to bring the power of purple into your home…

Or a pillow could do the trick…
Although the easiest way would be to add a gorgeous bouquet of lisianthus to your home…
