Today’s guest is Shannon from HaseHaus. I was so excited when Shannon started blogging because she is somewhat of a local to me, and we have both been running our businesses in the same cricls for the past few years. I actually purchased an awesome vintage glass dark room sign from her a long time ago that I gave my brother as a birthday gift. Anyhow Shannon and her husband work together and are adorable, creative, and talented! My husband tends to be just the muscles to help me move furniture… I sometimes dream that he would be interested in decorating, but then remind myself that if he was interested in decorating our house would be centered around TV, beer refrigerators, and stadium seating. Anyhow, go check out Shannon’s blog- you will love her!
Hi, I’m Shannon from HaseHaus! When Cassie asked me to select a color to discuss for her Colorful World Series, it took me a few moments to figure out what color I wanted to select. I quickly ran through our house trying to figure out my “favorite” color, and quickly realized that I had red accents in every single room of the house.
I love bold, bright colors, and frequently use them in fabrics for our decor company, Yuppie Decor.
But, never really realized my own love affair for the color red!
Red is fiery, passionate, fierce, and courageous. When used as an accent color, it adds just the right amount of pizazz and life to any room of the house. I love incorporating red rugs, lamps, artwork, and furniture to spaces.
As one of the three primary colors, it looks best when paired with one or both of the two other primary colors: blue and yellow.
For example, we have a bright red campaign dresser in our design studio, which we’ve paired with a colorful kilim rug and sunny yellow lamp.
We also have a two red accent chairs in our den…
But, my favorite red accent in our home is the persian rug in our front living room. It’s a great example of red and blue accents paired together to create a nautical-inspired room with a bit of international flair.
This room inspired me to create a nautical-chic bedroom, with just the right touches of red…
Whether it’s cardinal, crimson, scarlet, ruby, or rouge…the color red is playful, classic, and modern – all rolled into one. And one thing is for sure: it’s deep rich color is a breath of fresh air for neutral, waxen design palettes.
