Coming this Fall!

It’s August, so it’s officially not too soon for the “F” word!  I mean, I am not gonna lie, we throw the F word around here almost all summer long. FALL!  What did you think I meant? 😉 Anyhow, today I want to talk about what is coming this fall to my blog.  I know that things have been rather unproductive over here, but we’ve had delays on items getting to us, and I’ve been busy momming it to 3 kids.  In less than two weeks the 2 older kiddos will be headed back to school, and Wilder and I will be staring at each other wondering what to do with our time. (Ha. ha. ha. There is no sitting and staring for a toddler.) In all seriousness, I am planning to make the most of my time. I have so many projects I will be sharing with you so I thought I’d give you a little taste of what is to come ahead in what is inarguably the best season Mother Nature ever gave us. Kitchen Reveal

It’s been a couple months since I shared our kitchen plans and the kitchen was demoed.  We’ve had some hiccups along the way with items being delivered, and then our electrician went MIA and wasn’t showing up which really held us up.  (That last part was SOOOOO frustrating!)  We couldn’t make any progress until electric work was done, so things went slowly for a bit but we are back on track.  The counter tops are going to take some time to fabricate so look for the final reveal in late October… yep, I am going to make you wait that long, simply because I have to wait that long, too. (As I type this I am sitting here waiting for the electrician who has not shown up yet…I am about to lose it. Please see my last post where I talk about meditation- must get on that habit!)

Sawyer’s Room Reveal

Another room we’ve been slowly chipping away at is Sawyer’s bedroom.  I shared the plans for it here, and I am happy to say we’ve painted the walls, and changed out bedding and rug.  It already feels like such a more sophisticated space perfect for a high school student.  We are waiting for his new bed to arrive, and we need to get shelves up on his wall. I don’t know why, but adding shelving to a wall intimidates me. I have levels, and I can find studs, but it’s still one of those jobs I just don’t like to tackle.  Gimme all the walls to paint!  Anyhow, here is a little peek at the progress that we’ve made so far in his space.  I absolutely love how the paint and bedding have already transformed this space.  We went with Cyberspace from Sherwin Williams and the bedding is the organic cotton vintage washed duvet cover from PB Teen (on major sale right now!). The rug is the Russell plaid rug from Mohawk Home and I could not love it more!  It comes in 5 color variations; ours is silver gray. It’s just perfect for his room! Additionally, we had planned on getting some new throw pillows, but I already had these gray Ikea buffalo check and Sawyer was happy with those.  (God bless this kid, because he seriously is always happy with what he has and almost never asks for anything else- that is such a gift to us!)

Updates in Wilder’s Room

Wilder is now a toddler with a bit of personality and I felt like his room needed a little update to suit him.  Additionally, this fall he’s going to need a quilt to sleep with.  My mom made him the most amazing modern crib quilt based off of the new Target one that doesn’t come in crib size.  I’m removing the blues from his room, adding more black and white, and bringing in an accent color.  Any guesses on what that color might be?  Check out the picture of the quilt my mom sent me!  She’s bringing it this weekend and I am so excited to see it in person.  This was the inspiration.

One Room Challenge

That’s right!  After taking a couple years off from joining in the One Room Challenge madness, I am coning back this Fall!  I will be tackling our “dining room” which we have converted into an eat-in area of our kitchen with our renovation.  I’ve got big plans to make this space flow with the kitchen and rest of the house, and it includes paint and wallpaper.  The current situation looks like this, but it’s going to be so good!  Also, do you like the fact that Wilder’s birthday party decal is still up on the wall?  Yeah, his birthday was in April. Not much else to say about that.

Fall DIY

This past weekend Emmy and I got crafty!  We used my friend Julia’s macrame feather tutorial to make some feathers for something we’re creating which you will see in just a few weeks!  These feathers were so easy and fun to make that Emmy made tons more and plans to hang some on her backpack. Any guesses on what we might be making?

Halloween DIY

If you’ve been here a while, you know that I am a huge fan of Halloween!  With our house going on the market right after Halloween last year, I missed out on any Halloween projects.  While I will certainly miss decorating my big porch and putting out my dead & breakfast sign, I’ve got a really fun Halloween project in the works for this little porch.  I’ll be creating something with this.  It’s been a long time since I’ve been crafty and it feels good to be planning these projects! (Note: I did take my sign with me, so I may see if I can find a spot for it!)

Fall Recipe

Assuming I have a kitchen to use… I am going to be sharing my favorite fall soup recipe with you!  (It’s vegan, though not on purpose, I just love it!) Fall is my favorite season to cook and bake, so I can’t wait to break in the new range which is currently sitting in my living room.

Fall Tours

I am joining a couple of my favorite fall tours this year!  I was invited by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life to be part of her tour, which I have admired over the years.  I was so excited to be asked!  Secondly I am rejoining Krista and the seasonal simplicity tours.  I used to participate in them but took a hiatus with the baby and the move, but I am ready to come back strong this season.  Of course, the house is in much more chaos than I had anticipated at this point, so there will be artfully cropped photos.  I’ve got some fun things to share with you though, like new rugs in the family room and bedroom which bring in a great cozy vibe for the season.  (New rugs because of Catcher getting Norovirus and having diarrhea on my bedroom rug, and then new family room rug because they were a little too anxious with a dog sitter and had diarrhea all over our family room while we were at the beach…. so yeah.  Not being frivolous with my rugs here, but there was no saving that family room rug.)  Here is a little peek at the new rugs in those spaces… And no, they are not the same rug, but I just really loved this style. 😉

Life

On top of all the DIY and design, I truly enjoy connecting with you here on a personal level.  I am hoping to share much more behind the scenes, posts about life and all of my mistakes along the way. 🙂

Thank you so much for coming along on my house and life adventures.  I hope you will stick around for all the fun we’re sure to have in my favorite season!
