The Cool, Funky, Fresh Lone Soldier

During my garage sale escapades with Gwen a few weeks ago, I found a table with 3 caned back dining chairs for $25.  Three is an odd number, and one of the chairs had arms, two did not.  I decided to keep the two with arms as a pair, and make the one with the arms a lone soldier.  A cool, funky, fresh lone soldier, of course.
Here is what it looked like before and sorry for the blurry phone pic, but it’s all I have.  They had lovely stained gold velvet seats….

Anyhow, I did not sand because I hate sanding chairs.  I trusted in my Benjamin Moore primer, and painted it with “Surf Blue” like my dresser (that you see in the header now!).  Then I lightly distressed it.  When it came time to choose the fabric, I had a few options.  I brought them outside and let Sawyer choose.  He went with red chevron, of course, because the boy’s got style.  Here is the fresh and funky lone soldier.

I am really happy with how this one turned out!  Stay tuned…. the other two are painted and will be coming soon!

This chair will be available at June’s Stylish Patina barn sale!

Fun fabric, Cassie! I’ve been loving red lately. Weird for me.

I also hate sanding chairs and have chosen to skip it. Good to know I’m not the only one and that all the paint won’t start melting off or something someday in the near future. 😛
