Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! I had plans before the weekend to hit a couple of auctions as we are in full on Holiday work mode at Sweet Clover. Buuuuuuuut….. then the weekend came, and I started it with a windy and cold hilly run Saturday. Twelve miles of cold hard winds and climbs turned my Saturday auction plans into Saturday-stay-home-and-craft-and-be-cozy plans. Staying in my toasty comfortable home with the family sounded like a much better idea! And I enjoyed it so much, that I blew all work plans I had and instead stayed up way too late watching Eight Below with the kids while Chris watched Football. Sunday’s auction went out the window as well and we headed out to see The Peanuts Movie. I did take some time while the house was in order, er somewhat, to take photos of our “count your blessings” Thanksgiving mantle as well as a living room tour.
When I was putting away Halloween decorations a couple of weeks ago, I wasn’t sure what I would do with the mantle. I stumbled upon my numbered apothecary jars purchased from Anthropologlie several years ago, and the idea of an implied “count your blessings” mantle came to me.
I kept many of the same elements as my Fall mantle, but added the numbered jars.
Friday night while staying in enjoying a cold and windy evening indoors, I grabbed some of my chunky yarns and made a mint and ivory pom pom garland to add to the display. I used the Clover Large Pom Pom Maker
to make my pom poms, and threaded them onto a long piece of yarn using Plastic Yarn Needles.
I love the splash of color they add to the black and white mantle and fireplace.
And of course, the disco ball and brass deer almost always stay in place on my mantle!
The rest of the space has minor updates that make the space feel warm and inviting to me.
I’ve brought in my palm plant which lived outside all summer and loved it, but the weather has finally gotten too cold.
I am hoping it will survive in this space next to my other plants that are barely hanging on somehow still alive. The top shelves of our industrial pipe built ins feature plants as well as clay creations the kids have made at school over the past few years.
I updated the chalkboard behind the sofa to reflect the feeling of the season. I modeled it after a print I saw on Society6. The sofa received a fabulous new lumbar pillow I ordered from Brittany’s shop, and a vibrant blue Mexican blanket my mom purchased for me a month ago when she was at the Mexican market in California.
This guy always overlooks our living room. He keeps everything in order for me.
In case that deer is sleeping on the job, I also have my tribal bear on the coffee table to help out.
And I am thankful for so much in this world, so that simple chalkboard says it all. I’m especially thankful for the three people in this photo with me… (And someone better fill up Chris’ empty candy jar on his desk…)
I, for one, am looking forward to Thanksgiving so much this year. It’s going to be a very special one for us as my brother and his family will be joining us and it will be the first time since I was in college that my parents, my brother and I will all be together to celebrate. I just can’t wait!
I do get questions on occasion about where items come from, so thought I would create a source list for you.
