Create the perfect date night in with Lenox Luna Nesting Dinnerware!
This past weekend my parents were here for a visit, so Chris and I took full advantage. We sent them off with the older kids to a local arcade and out to dinner, we got the little one in bed, and then we cooked and served ourselves a beautiful dinner for a cozy date night in. Chris has had a serious hankering for shrimp curry which no one else in our house but I will eat with him, so we took the opportunity. He really enjoys cooking, and I really enjoy making things look pretty, so together we created a gorgeous and delicious meal. I absolutely love date night in, because I can wear my comfiest clothing, and Chris doesn’t have to wear shoes, but we can still feel fancy with our table. I was so fortunate in that Lenox sent me their Luna Nesting Dinnerware set, which set the perfect mood for our special night. Thank you to theshelf.com for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
Of course, with daylight savings happening this past weekend, and our dinner on Sunday evening, it was already dark by the time we sat down to eat, but I just loved how the candlelight played off of the gold on the Lenox Luna.
I did get a chance to take some photos before we ate though, so I want to share those with you so you can really see how unique and modern the Luna Nesting Dinnerware is.
While Chris cooked our delicious meal, and daylight still poured in our windows, I worked to set the table and create a romantic fall mood. Do you see that gray and gold orb on the table? Would you believe it if I told you that it is a nested set of plates and bowls, ideal for dinner for two?
I created a video here where you can see exactly how the dishes come apart and fit together. It’s truly incredible- I have never seen dinnerware as innovative as the Lenox Luna.
As you can see, I took apart the Luna and placed all of the dishes out on the table. This set contains 2 larger bowls, 2 medium bowls, 2 small bowls, and 2 plates, all in a gold, charcoal and white color scheme which suits our home and aesthetic beautifully.
To complement our Luna, Lenox kindly sent me Colebrook flatware in black which was the perfect pairing.
I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of black flatware… it just feels so modern and it complements the black chairs of our dining room as well as our light fixture.
I also received a set of Lenox Tuscany wine glasses, which if you know me, are perfect for me. They feature thicker glass and are break-resistant and dishwasher safe. I have been known to break thin glasses with skinny stems in my time, and these are just right for the bull in a china shop that is me. I guess I just don’t have a delicate touch. Thank goodness I don’t need one with these glasses!
While our dining room wasn’t 100% complete at the time we ate this dinner, I absolutely love how the Luna set really played off of the elements we have in this space. The sun in the wallpaper was made for the Luna. The organic live edge table suits the modern vibe of the dishes, and the gold resin fill in it plays well off of the gilded dinnerware. The wallpaper also features shades of gray… this dinnerware feels like it was made for our dining room, but I can see it working in so many beautiful spaces. Plus, I truly can’t wait to have my kitchen shelving up because they’re going to look beautiful stored out in the open, and such a space saver!
While I was busy setting our table, smells of Chris’ coconut shrimp curry wafted over in my direction. When it was finally ready, I let Chris take a seat and I set everything up for him. With the set of 6 bowls and 2 plates the Luna provides, we were able to set out the medium bowl with a plate for drips as the main vessel for the curry out of which we ate.
By that time, darkness had fallen outside, and the candles were lit, setting the mood.
I got to work filling all of the Luna nesting dinnerware with everything we needed for our coconut shrimp curry. I used the smallest bowls in the sets for garnishes, which in this case were lime wedges and green onions.
The largest of the bowls we used for rice- well, rice for Chris and cauliflower rice for me. Below I am trying to talk him into trying the healthier cauliflower rice, and even though you can’t see his entire face, I am pretty sure you can read the look of skepticism. 😉 I didn’t win that one.
Lastly, I poured him a glass of one of our favorite red blends, and poured myself a glass of water, and we toasted to a quiet night in, which was exactly what we needed after being woken at 5 by a Daylight-savings-resistant toddler.
Do you want to know one of the best parts of the Luna? Often times, fancy dinnerware has to be hand washed only. Well, guess what?!? After we finished our meal, we simply rinsed everything off and popped it all into our dishwasher because every single piece I showed you is dishwasher safe! The Luna is microwave safe as well. Is your mind blown like mine was? I thought for sure I’d be hand-washing these! They are beautiful and functional for a busy family of 5!
The way the Luna nesting dinnerware set fits together is so beautiful and creatively unique, and pushes us to think about how we can best use them. We’re already dreaming up vegetarian chili nights, taco nights, and more using these bows. Cooking together and experimenting with recipes is a passion of ours, and I know we will have so much fun for years to come putting the Luna to work in our home.
