Cozy Fall & Thanksgiving Ideas

Happy Wednesday! This weekend, November will arrive.  Can you believe it?  Just yesterday I was ringing in the new year…. what happened?  Next week I will participate in Lindsay’s Thanksgiving tablescape tour.  This year we are headed to my parents to celebrate, but I love to create unique looks in our dining room so I’m going to share my 2015 Thanksgiving fantasy tablescape.  For now, I thought I would look back on some of my older cozy Fall & Thanksgiving ideas to get you in the mood.

Last November we did host, and I created my most favorite place card holders of all time… DIY dreamcatcher place card holders.

I kept the tribal feel constant throughout the table…. Using Mexican blankets as runners or tablecloths adds a great graphic and texture to a table.

Last year I created two Thanksgiving tablescapes, and both featured Mexican textiles. This one was styled by Relish Decor in Frederick.

We kept the tribal nods with this table as well, and used a pitcher full of vintage arrows I found as the centerpiece, paired with wooden vases and vintage wood animals.  I loved the feel of this table and it did make me think of the very first Thanksgiving.

Of course if tribal is not your jam, cozy plaid blankets can also double as table decor, adding great color and texture as well.  What is it about plaid that just makes you want to snuggle in close with the ones you love?BSHT Table 6

Adding color and a natural element to a table or your Thanksgiving decor can be as easy as cutting some beautiful leafy branches from your own yard.

A Thankful tree can be a great way for your whole family to participate and share what they are grateful for. I made mine with arrows and feathers, and used some found branches.

In the Fall and for Thanksgiving both feathers and harvest items are perfect for that natural touch.  Of course, you can update them to fit your personal style if you wish.  I dipped these feathers in glitter and they adorn my mantle.  I also added larger feathers to the mantle and mixed them with gold vases.

Finally, I modernized my mini pumpkins two years ago year by dipping them in white paint, and gilding the stems.mini6I am excited for the opportunity to create another cozy and natural Thanksgiving table this year.  Of course, to be honest, I really don’t know yet what I will be creating… I have some ideas, but I won’t know until it all happens.  That’s how I work!  Be sure to visit Lindsay at The White Buffalo Styling Co. Monday when the Thanksgiving tour kicks off!

Love the fall touches you’ve done! I can’t believe the pumpkin parade was 2 years ago. It feel like it was so long ago!
