How about a furniture makeover today? I’ve got a fun coral dresser with DIY gold leaf details for you today.
I recently came across this fabulous midcentury dresser on craigslist. I loved its lines, and it was in good overall shape, but the pale finish was not working for me.
Check out its before state, with sad painted hardware to boot.
I removed the hardware, sanded the dresser, and painted it with 2 coats of a custom color I created using General Finishes Coral Crush and Snow White. I wanted to keep a modern and smooth finish, so I topped it off with General Finishes satin top coat.
Since the original hardware was in bad shape, I ordered these brushed satin gold knobs from D. Lawless Hardare. I love the modern shape they boast and felt they were perfect for this dresser!
Also, you may have noticed the gilded accents!
I gave this dresser the midas touch using a gold leafing technique. I am sharing the full tutorial on how to gold leaf over at Ehow, so head on over to learn how to add gold leafed details to your furniture!
Have a great day! I am off to Sweet Clover to get ready for next week’s big semi-annual sale!
