Drop Cloth Chair Makeover(s)

Remember these cool chairs I got for my sitting area for $40 at Goodwill?

Pin

I actually kind of liked the funky fabric that was on them, but it was so old, musty, and stained, that a change was needed.  I decided to jump on the drop cloth bandwagon, and enlsited the help of my favorite seamstress, aka, Mom, to help me with them.  (Which means, I cut what she told me to, and she sewed!).  I bought a 4’x15′ dropcloth and gave it a good laundering.  Unforunately, I ended up being just shy of enough fabric for both chairs, so my mom will be finishing the last cushion on her own.  So I only have one chair to show you.

And here is the other sad chair…. I put a little pillow on it for now so it wouldn’t feel so bad about its nakedness. πŸ˜‰

I love the way the complete chair looks and now just need to find the right pillow or fabric to make pillows- haven’t found it yet!  And I am shopping for some new curtains, too, to add a little pizazz.   I’ll let you know what I find!  Hope you all enjoy the last few hours of your weekend.  Our family room gets drywalled starting tomorrow, so I won’t be able to get much painting done this week, but I hope to have some projects to share nonetheless.  Have a great week!

And oooh- just found these at Urban Outfitters…. might be a winner!  What do you think?

The chairs are a winner! The drapes will be the icing on the cake. Could those have anymore personality? I’m going to check out Urban Outfitter’s now. xo

What a great team the two of you make…They look great…

I LOVE Urban Outfitters and I am insisting you go with those curtains you found…That print is amazing and would allow you to pull so many different colors into the room…My shower curtains is from UO and I swear it is one of the best purchases I ever made…

Btw, Love how you gave the lonely chair a little pillow…

    Take care,

How thoughtful of you to give the chair a little pillow. I’m sure she’s all shy about her nakedness. πŸ™‚

I love the pattern on the curtain. I haven’t been to Urban Outfitters for a while. I’m going to check them out online now.

I love how neutral the dropcloth makes the chairs, then you can change up the look with pillows and drapes.

Wonderful, Cassie! I think it turned out great! How fun that and your mom were able to do this together. I like those curtains very much and they work well with your dropcloth chairs. Drop cloths as upholstery fabric has so much versatility. You can add any pilows, curtains, rugs, etc. you want!

Your chairs look great! It’s crazy how uninspiring drop cloths are when they’re on my floor collecting paint. But when used for curtains or cushion covers they become so amazing! πŸ™‚ And, those curtains would look awesome with them.
