One of my favorite colors to use is a color by Behr called “Waterscape”. Just the name itself is soothing, makes me think of being on a lake somewhere and espcaping reality. It is the very color that is on one of the dressers in my own bedroom. What I love is that it is soft, dusty with gray tones, but steers away from being too feminine.
Last week I picked up this pair of nightstands (free! Thank, you Naval Academy Professor!)
They were faux painted in a blonde wood finish that had most likely been done in the 70’s. Blech! I had visions of turquoise, but when I started to pull out my blue paints I came across trust old Waterscape, and new it was a winner for these nightstands. I got to work, sanding the old finish, priming, and painting. I didn’t want to add too many more layers to the pieces, and one coat of primer was all it needed. Fortunately, this paint color covers well, and one coat of paint did it as well. I then distressed them, and gave them an all over sanding, just to give it some more wear and tear. Once that was finished, I went over them with a stain to give them a warmer glow. Here they are now!
