Happy Tuesday! It’s day two of my own three day tour extravaganza, and today I am joining the Summer Eclectic Home Tour hosted by Jess at Domicile 37. She moved into her home almost a year ago, and she has been really putting her maximalist moody stamp on it… check out her home here. I’m the first home on today’s portion of this tour, but if you’re hopping over from Jess at Bright Green Door from yesterday, welcome! I have my work cut out for me, as I just love her fun style and especially her bold floral walls! I’ve kept all of my own summer styling rather simple this year, and only used items I already owned to bring in a bit of those coastal vibes into my eclectic summer kitchen and dining room tour that I am going to share with you today. I hope you like blue, green, and vintage, because that is really what it’s all about in these spaces right now.
Let’s start in the dining room, where I’ve made one little change from the last time you saw it aside from the seasonal decor.

If you are a regular reader, perhaps you noticed right away, but we moved the turquoise dresser into this space as a sideboard. Last year I brought home an antique daybed I’ve had under the window so that our dogs would have a place to rest. Unfortunately, they’ve destroyed countless pillows, and last week someone had an accident on it, and I just said, “ENOUGH!” However, we can’t leave the space under the window empty or one of my dogs will destroy the paint as he’s done on the other dining window (you can notice it in this tour… I decided not to edit it out this time and keep it real!). We pulled in the turquoise dresser which was in the living room (you can see that space’s summer look here), and it brings in a great touch of color and global style.
On top of the dresser, I kept it rather simple with a few plants, my tribal bear, a gold and marble lamp, and a seashell.
To the right of the dresser sits my vintage bar cart. I moved my letter board, some bowls, and ice cream spoons over to the cart to make it a little summer treat cart. Catcher posed perfectly right in here for you, or perhaps he can read and is awaiting his ice cream.

I added some of our favorite flavors to the letter board… black raspberry and mint chocolate chip are mine, and then I asked the kids to pick theirs. Sawyer actually only likes vanilla, but he loves to put M&M’s in it. The little watercolor piece was won in an instagram giveaway last year from artist Mika Harmony.

Along the adjacent wall hangs my horse art from Minted which I am still so in love with, and my reclaimed floating shelves which have been styled for Summer.

A few years ago one of my best friends gave me these vintage sailboat paint by numbers. They were perfect for bringing the summer feel to this space, and complemented the colors in my space well. I added some plants for a little life and greener, a vintage seashell, and a couple of other pieces. Emmy made that beautiful ceramic flower in art class this year.

The white and wood of these shelves and the piece below pair well with my kitchen island for a rustic and cozy feel.
Since the dining room and kitchen open to one another, there’s only one other wall of the dining room. It houses a blue farmhouse style cabinet with original paint.
I’ve added green glass candlesticks, a vintage green glass float, a plant, and a lion my husband drew as a child. Th vintage lace peace sign was made by me a couple of years ago for Christmas, and I just loved it so much that I kept it up.
Now let’s talk about the dining table which you can see in some of the images above. I originally got the indigo mud cloth from The Turquoise Moon to make pillows for the daybed. Since the day bed is no longer, I decided to use the textile to bring blue to my table.
I set the table with my blue and white Ikea dishes that feature modern graphic birds and hot air balloons. They seemed to be perfect for the season. I used a collection of various vintage silverware on white napkins.
Green glass goblets finish off each place setting. I have a serious thing for colored vintage glassware… I can’t help myself!
In the center of the table, I placed a second green glass float and a couple of aqua glass bottles from West Elm filled with the last of my white peony stems.

I actually shot all of these photos at the end of last week. Since then we’ve had rain and the peonies outside have just finished their season. I certainly enjoyed them while they lasted.

Now let’s head into the kitchen, which opens to the dining room. This island serves as the line of division, the breakfast nook, homework space during the school year, and my office year round, which is why my Mac sits there.
As you can see the blues and greens flow from the dining room into the kitchen. I love white walls so that the other colors really shine.
You’ve seen Catcher already once in this tour, but you’ll see him as well as the other dogs in this room much more often. When the temperatures go up, they enjoy laying on the cool tile floor. Actually, I had to reshoot the photo above because here’s what happened the first time… See the ghost of Catcher? Working around three dogs can be a bit of a challenge!
Jake, the poor old guy, I don’t ever ask him to move, so I allowed him to lay down and stay for this shot of my kitchen.

Although I love design, in my own home I truly strive to be practical about the choices I make. When it came time to bringing some Summer style into the kitchen, I decided just to add some of my vintage seascapes to the open shelving. Everything else you see in the photo is exactly as it stays daily, minus all the crumbs I cleaned off just for you. I mean, as you can see, I didn’t even bother to straighten the dish towel… whoops!
What can I say? I constantly use it to dry my hands after dish washing, so it’s probably never actually straightened anyhow.
The top shelf of our kitchen is used for items we use but not on a daily basis, so it was the perfect place to add a little seasonal artwork.

Our salt cellar had some white salt in it, and then I happened to add pink Himalayan salt, and created a sand art effect which is unintentionally reminiscent of beach sands. And as you can see from my utensil crock, it’s truly a mish mosh of supplies we regularly use… you won’t find a well-styled crock here. The fox piece is full of whisks, which is a bit of a family joke.
This summer, I know we will be in and out and using the island as a bit of a dumping ground for goggles, sunscreen, what have you. I decided to clean the slate of all decor and just let it happen. It’s ready for the mess of Summer!
And just because Snowball hasn’t made her appearance in this post yet, here she is! Since this shoot she’s been to the groomer for her Summer ‘d0 and is one happy miniature schnoodle.
I have one more little space I wanted to share with you today and that is our home’s very small main entry. When you walk into our front entry, the living room is to the left…

On the chalkboard wall I added a vintage ship painting I had, and on the floating shelf opposite, I added some blue vintage books, a vintage blue glass hand, and a cactus.

I wanted to keep it simple in this space, yet bring the colors of the adjacent rooms in for a cohesive feel throughout our main living area.
