I have done a few reviews now for my friend Alicia over at Eco-Natural Soap, and I am always excited when she contacts me to do another because I get to try out more of her amazing products, which are eco-friendly, natural, and smell amazing. The last time I focused on some psoriasis relief for Sawyer and body butter for me. This time around I was thrilled to see they have added mineral make-up to their inventory! I am somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to makeup, and what I do use I prefer to be natural as I believe it’s better for my skin. I decided on two products to try in the mineral make-up department and chose lighter colors since we are heading into Winter and I am fair skinned.
I chose pink rose blush:
and eye color shimmer in rose bronze:
I was also able to select a soap to try out, and I could not resist the pumpkin spice soap bar! I have been using it daily… it smells AMAZING. It’s the perfect subtly invigorating fall scent!
Alicia was also kind enough to throw in a lip balm for me… I was happily surprised to see a Spearmint Lavender lip balm in my box! I have used their lip balms before and love them! They are nice and light, not too greasy or too thick and leave my lips feeling soft. With the weather turning cooler, my lips had become dryer from riding my bike…. the lip balm has been a great help and smells fresh!
Let’s get back to the mineral makeup review, shall we? Be prepared because you are about to see a really scary picture of me. But we are all in the Halloween spirit, right? Ok, so here I am just after getting out of the shower… don’t worry with clothes on…. but no makeup. I took both of these pictures myself with my phone in about the same spot so you could really see the difference.
After taking that picture, reviewing it and cringing, I applied some makeup. Here are the steps I took so you know exactly what went into it…
1. I applied concealer under my eyes to lighten dark circles.
2. I applied a light primer on my eyelids all the way up to my brow.
3. I applied the mineral makeup eye shimmer in rose bronze to my entire lid up to my brow.
4. I applied a slightly darker bronzy mineral makeup I had on hand to the crease and lightly blended.
5. I finished my eyes with a charcoal eyeliner and a little mascara.
6. I applied the mineral makeup blush in pink rose to my cheeks. Alicia had told me that the harder you push on your brush the darker it gets. I found it darkened a little as I pushed and applied and got it to just where I wanted it.
7. Finally, I applied the lip balm for just a little sheen on the lips.
As you can see these are pretty minimal steps, but they left me where I wanted to be- looking natural, but a little better. ๐
I especially love the perfectly light touch the blush makes- it’s fabulous for Fall through Spring for me! In the summer I will be ordering the bronzer they carry. I also really love the eye color shimmer- it’s the perfect amount of shimmer…. subtle and light! I definitely see a huge difference in the two pictures and I hope you do, too!
Just for fun, here is another picture. In this one though I didn’t wear eye makeup except for liner and mascara, but I let the blush be the star… it gave me a nice soft glow. Or at least I looked less like death.
