Recently, I met Ellen, who was looking for some furniture for her daughters’ shared room. She and her husband are so sweet and have been fantastic to work with. We are still on the hunt for another tall dresser, but for now, we found one that was just perfect, and she had a pair of nightstands that had been in the family that she also needed to be painted. I am so sorry I forgot to take before pictures!!
The dresser was a golden color, and some of the paint was peeling. The nightstands were painted by Ellen’s husband back in his college days, and he had experienced with white with emerald green sponge painting. I patched and sanded, and sanded the nightstands down to a smooth finish so that the texture of the sponge paint wouldn’t show through. The dresser was painted with Sherwin Williams Alabaster and then antiqued with Minwax Golden Oak, and the nightstands with Benjamin Moore Lily Pad. All pieces were left undistressed for a clean and classic look. The original hardware was kept on the dresser as well as the nightstands with exception to the top drawer where we added crystal knobs for a little whimsy and sparkle. Here they are now…. and again, I am sorry I forgot to take before pictures!
