Many of you know I participated in the American Odyssey Relay this past weekend as captain of Team Bloggin’ & Joggin‘. I am still gathering all of my thoughts and hope to have a recap for you on Friday or Monday- there is just so much I want to say about it! It was the experience of a lifetime, and I am already planning for next year’s. So if you missed out this year, don’t worry! 🙂
Until I have my thoughts gathered on that, enjoy this little furniture makeover. I found this nightstand recently as part of a set and knew it would be a great piece for a fun color.
As you can see, it was in pretty rough shape. I gave it a good sanding all over, and sanded the top especially well to smooth it out.
I then applied 3 coats of General Finishes Emerald milk paint. I want to note that I did not prime this piece. I have discovered with Emerald, it’s best to apply right on top of the wood. If it is primed with white primer, you will actually need more paint to get a solid finish.
Once it was painted, I applied General Finishes satin top coat (which actually has a slight gloss to it). I gave it two coats of topcoat. While that was drying, I applied rub n buff to the hardware to give it a new lease on life as well.
I brought it to Sweet Clover this week for our upcoming sale this weekend.
I haven’t used this color in a while, but every time I do, I fall in love with it a little more! It’s such a gorgeous rich green.
The topcoat gives a nice hard smooth finish.I still have the matching desk to work on, and now I am not sure if I will go emerald or coastal blue on that one. Decisions!
