Decorate Your Home with Handmade!
This weekend, I finally pulled my Christmas bins down from the attic just so I could sort through them and see what I might actually use in this house. I had tried to do it in the attic a couple of weeks back, but I kept whacking my head on the cross beam and decided that it was too dangerous a task (although I do think twinkling Christmas lights are worth the injury.) This year with a toddler on the loose who likes to touch everything (literally every thing), my decor is going to be minimal or hung very high. 😉 For those of you who have been around here for a long time, you might recall a season when I wanted to glitter all of the things. That was seven years ago, and after seven years of cleaning glitter out from wood floor crevices months after the decor was put away, I have become a much simpler seasonal decorator and gravitate towards simple and natural touches, and of course I love hand made additions, whether I’ve made them myself or purchased from a maker. Today I want to share with you some of my Etsy favorites to deck your halls this year. (This blog uses affiliate links).
I’ve collected several of my personal favorites from etsy that I find to be stylish and affordable. For your reference, I am going to start clockwise from the top left corner of the graphic with each linked item below.
Mistletoe garland– I am a huge fan of natural garlands, but you have to buy them year after year. Instead of doing that, you could invest in stunning faux garlands like this one. I love the little white berries and the soft spruce-toned greens.
Christmas village banner– I am all about those simple Christmas villages. Two years ago I found some at the thrift shop and painted them all white and loved them together on my mantle. When I saw this simple wooden village banner, I was smitten!
“Sleigh All Day” banner– I would LOVE to hang this one over my own bed because it’s super fun, and also motivational!
Marbled clay ornaments– These are natural and earthy, and I love the terra cotta tones here. How cute would these ornaments be tied to your brown paper wrapped gifts with some feathers?
Christmas countdown– I have this one and LOVE it! It’s a simple way to count down to Christmas and the kids will excited to move the clothespin each day. I have the more simple modern look font, but they are both gorgeous and come in red as well. I love that it’s not huge so I can hang it almost anywhere!
“Peppermint Anything” doormat– I am all about layered doormats and would love to bring some jolly to my porch! Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen so many amazing festive door mats, but this one is SO us, at least me & Chris. We are all about peppermint anything this time of year. Chris likes it with chocolate, and I love it with white chocolate, and both of us go crazy for peppermint stick ice cream. We need this door mat!
Modern glam tree skirt– For the last several years, we have used blankets at tree skirts and I will probably be doing that this year as well, but if I were to buy a new one, this would be it! I love the modern fabric and the colors suit our home perfectly.
Fa-la-la artwork– This print is by the same guy who created my entry print, Wilder’s artwork, and the artwork in our hall bathroom. I guess you could say I am a fan. I love his modern and simple style.
Antler pillow– Lastly, this antler pillow is simple and a little rustic and I love the washed look of the gray. It will last all season, well after Christmas!
Well friends, I hope you have found some great new products and Etsy shops. I always love supporting the makers, the crafters, and the independent designers. It feels great to support shops where you know you are really making a difference to a human being, doesn’t it? Now, I better start going through those bins and figure out what the heck I am doing around here this year. What is your plan for Christmas decorating this year?
