Since first chatting with Alice, Emy, and Anu about our Dollhouse Therapy project, I have been searching high and low for miniatures.  Emmy and I have spent hours perusing craigslist, ebay, Etsy, and a couple of antique shops as well.  There are so many adorable tiny things on the market and I had no idea!  Today I thought I would share some of the fabulous handmade finds I came across on Etsy.

Etsy Mini Favorites

First up, I have to give credit to Emmy who found this desk and was in love with it!  Doing this house with her has taught me that my girl likes a mix of modern with vintage…. no idea where she gets that from.

And of course you know I had to search for some seascapes!  I didn’t buy any yet, but I love this one!

I also found some great Audubon bird prints in miniature, but the seascapes are more my style.  I also really loved this sailboat.

And I haven’t even touched upon the plethora of adorable miniature food, like these cute donuts, also known as actual scale of what I should be eating when it comes to donuts.

And finally, you need a family to live in your dollhouse!  MadebyLayla has some of the cutest wooden peg people.  I adore this family.

Isn’t everything just sweeter in miniature?  And if you’re not into it, don’t worry…. I have plenty of regular sized projects coming up, too!  It’s busy-town up in here!

It’s almost like your real house in miniature! Which would be another great dollhouse idea….. The obsession continues.

I really liked the photo that includes your hand holding the tiny pots, as this gives an idea of scale. Have you considered including objects in the photos, such as a quarter, a ruler, etc., in order to convey the actual size? If I didn’t read the text, I would not have realized that the painting and some of the other objects were actually miniature. Just an idea. I love the project!

DL built a dollhouse for Libby when she was little, but never finished it. (Like most of his projects, it gets 90% done and then I either have to nag or do it myself.) As it wasn’t a necessity and Lib never seemed all that entranced, it was given to our Habitat For Humanity Wednesday group to finish and then auction off. They got $450 bucks for it, which was to help a family get a house. Time well spent!

I can’t wait to move back to the states so that I can makeover my dollhouse in my mom’s attic with my daughter. I had no idea that there were so many great miniatures out there! So much has changed in the last 30 years. Thanks for sharing your favorites. Loved. Every. One.
