I am sure by now most of you have heard of LuLaRoe clothing, right? I think I was first introduced to it some time in 2015, and made my first purchase of fun buffalo head leggings this past winter. To be honest, I was skeptical… why would I pay $30 for leggings? Well, then the mustard color with buffalo heads that I knew would rock with some brown boots and a chambray tunic showed up in my facebook feed one day and I had a visceral reaction to them. I immediately ordered them and when they arrived, they were SOOOOO soft and comfy and had a nice high waistband that doesn’t slide down. I was sold on their leggings from that first moment of sliding them on. My friend Julia opened her own LuLaRoe facebook shop, and when she asked me if I would like to work with her, I jumped at the opportunity. More fun leggings, right? But Julia sent me a box filled with a few outfits and options I probably would not have selected myself… a fitted skirt? Heck no! Not on my legs! But guess what, I love it! So today, I wanted to share with you some affordable and comfortable fall style with LuLaRoe. (And pay attention, because at the end I will be offering you guys a discount.)Before we really get into it there are some things I want you to know… I would not represent any company or person that I do not truly believe in. I love the LuLaRoe clothing that I own, and I love the fact that it is ethically created and fits a wide rang of women’s sizes (and fits Andy Grammer). They also appeal to a range of styles… I tend to gravitate toward the more bohemian animal prints (In the past I’ve purchased buffalo heads, lion heads, and unicorns), but they offer more modern, retro, and sporty prints as well. As for Julia, she and I go waaaaaaaaaay back to elementary school in Massachusetts but have reconnected in the more recent years as we share a passion for repurposing, home, garden, family, outdoors and DIY. In short, she’s someone I am happy to show support.
Now let me share with you some of the LuLaRoe fashions as well as my honest feedback on the look, feel, and fit.
Let’s start with the skirt that shocked me the most, and happens to share the same name as me, the Cassie skirt.
This skirt is knee length, fitted, and comes with the same high comfortable wide waistband I was familiar with from their leggings. I wore it to church last Sunday as you see below, with a sheer mustard blouse and cami and my favorite brown boots. (Seriously so comfortably and they fit my wide calves well. Mine are 4 years old, but these boots are the same brand and similar in style. And the top is target also about 5 years old, but you can find similar here and here.)Now, I have to be totally honest here; I am aware that I am on the thin to average side so I am not complaining, but my legs have always been my personal hangup. We all have them, right? No matter what I do, my legs are always quite thick, so I was pretty nervous about this skirt. But you know what, my legs will never be thin, and I decided to step outside my comfort zone and rock it anyhow. The point is, you don’t have to have a perfect body to wear clothing that’s fitted. You just have to have the confidence and also know your size. Wearing a fitted piece that is too big won’t flatter, just as wearing a fitted piece that you are squeezing yourself into won’t. But the right fit will go a long way. I am typically a size 4-6, and Julia sent me an XS. I wasn’t sure it would glide over these thighs, but she knows her product.
The Cassie skirt also stretches and moves with you, making it easy to walk in. And that’s my old buddy Jake you see above, just shy of his 13th birthday now.
The other skirt that LuLaRoe makes is the Madison skirt, and I was really excited about this one!
The flowy fit is more in line with choices I typically make. The Madison features pockets which I am always a big fan of in skirts and dresses. You’ve already seen this look in my Fall porch tour, but I wanted to tell you a little more about the outfit.
The Madison skirt is pretty much what I consider to be the perfect skirt style and fit for me. I like skirts that come to my knee, and hide my thighs rather than accentuate them. It can be dressed up or down, and even looks great with a t-shirt and Chucks.
I am wearing my Madison with my favorite new fall booties and a button down I purchased a few years ago from Loft tied in a knot at the waist.
Now let’s talk about the item that started my LuLaRoe shopping experience… leggings!
Leggings are where I like to wear the more wild prints and I had never purchased solid colored leggings; I always feared how they would look on my less than toned thighs (aka a wee bit dimpled!). Well, Julia sent me a solid pair of teal leggings so it was time to let go of my inhibitions. So once again, I stepped outside my comfort zone, and loved the outcome! Full disclosure here…. no one was around to take these photos and it was a rainy day, so with the help of a tripod and timer, these were the best I could do. My neighbors are surely wondering even more about the crazy lady who lives here.
With all of the rain we were having, rain boots were a must and frankly I have a hard time fitting my legs into many boots, especially with regular pants, so leggings are perfect for rainy days! (I got my green hunters last year and love them and get so much use out of them, especially lately.) LuLaRoe lives up to their reputation with these… they are the softest leggings I have ever owned, extremely comfortable, and I am a big fan of the high and wide waist band so it doesn’t slide down because we all know crack is whack.
I am wearing the leggings with the LuLaRoe Irma top in an XS. This piece has a flattering fit that dips lower in the back for obvious reasons. 😉 Here you can see it as I practice my “Oh, do I need an umbrella?” pose.
One of my favorite features of this tunic is the fitted sleeves. I love wearing flowing tops, but often I can’t layer them under sweaters (and I get cold easily) because the sleeves awkwardly wind up bunched and shoved into a cardigan. The fitted sleeve allows me to wear a cardigan over top. Here you can see the fitted sleeve as well as the fun pattern I was wearing.
I have one final piece to share with you today and it’s the Nicole dress.
Once again, I was skeptical when I pulled it out of the box (oh, ye of little faith, I know…), but I am pretty much in love with the style and fit of this dress. The sleeve length, length of the dress, and fit overall are perfect. I am wearing a size S here for reference in the cassette print.
I wore this dress yesterday to the National Apple Festival (which I will be sharing more about tomorrow!), and it was really comfortable walking around. I had a sweater over it but as the sun appeared, I was comfortable without. It’s perfect paired with solid LuLaRoe leggings like I am wearing here and a pair of boots. I should mention I am not much of a bold patterns girl and tend to gravitate towards solid or simple prints, and this cassette print frightened me. But when I came down wearing it, it was the first thing Chris complimented me on, and he is not usually one for compliments (and I am not complaining here, just stating the facts… it was a special thing for him to really notice it!) While we walked around the festival I also had a few women notice the fun print and compliment me as well. Now I am thinking I need 5 more of these dresses in fun prints because I can wear them pretty much any season with the right layers and style them so many ways.
Now for the best part…Julia is offering all of my readers 15% off their first purchase in her shop with coupon code CASSIE at checkout. This code will not expire until you use it…. so you can wait until next month or even next year (but I am sure you’ll find something you love before then.) You can visit and join her online shop here. Happy shopping to you!
