I bought this farm table a couple months ago at a community yard sale here in town. I loved the clean and rustic lines of the table top, as well as the bit of detail on the legs. I didn’t love its shiny dark pine finish that must have been done in the early 1980’s. I recall having that dark pine type of furniture in my house back then….
I wanted it to be light and beachy, so I painted the base a soft aqua color called “aqueduct” from Sherwin Williams, and the top was painted in “alabaster” also from Sherwin Williams. I usually do my distressing my hand, but I wanted to the top to be more distressed than I could manage by hand, so I used my orbital sander for the top. The base was sanded by hand. After it was distressed, I used a clear base stain in “Weathered Gray” from Cabot (a 50 cent Habitat ReStore purchase) and voila!
What do you think? I think it came out pretty beachy. I plan to redo a table of my own soon and I may just do the same treatment. I love it!
