Well, long time no see, right? I had the most amazing Christmas and I was not ready for it to end…. but all good things must come to an end. Chris, not working retail for the first time since I’ve known him, was home so much more than I am used to in December, and it was GLORIOUS. And the highlight…. my brother and his wife, and their 7 month old twin boys flew out from California! I finally got to meet my nephews, and they are the sweetest and cutest babies ever. It was so hard to say goodbye to them, not knowing when I will get to see them again. Why do there have to be so many states between here and California?!?!?!
Anyhow, like any good blogger should (please note, I am not deeming myself a good blogger), I wanted to share my highlights from 2014 with you. These are not necessarily the most pinned or deemed best by you, but rather my personal favorite posts from the year. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, beginning in January.
In January, I made one of the easiest but most dramatic changes to our living room and painted the fireplace black.
In February I continued to make some changes to the living room by adding industrial pipe built ins. The real challenge with these was that Chris and I were going to try to overcome our communication barriers. 😉 We did it!
In February I was also working on the kitchen, getting ready to tile our backsplash, and we brought in the industrial island my neighbor built and I finished it.
March brought another update to the living room. I painted the backings of our living room bookcases black- this was a super simple makeover that took just a couple hours and made a huge difference.
In April I worked with the Tile Shop and gave my kitchen my dream backsplash with beautiful aqua recycled glass tile. I also shared a very elaborate tutorial for those wanting to do their own.
In May I shared my most creative furniture makeover to date, an emerald green and gold greek key midcentury dresser. This piece was also featured at Shades of Blue in her top furniture flips of 2014! (Thanks, Rachel! Click here to see the rest of her picks!)
I finally revealed the kitchen makeover in June, just a little over a year after it started. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
In June I also refinished a pair of cabinets to be new nightstands for my master bedroom. I was inspired by my talented friend Brynne with these gilded and white midcentury pieces.
In August I experimented with Coral and gold and created this super fun vanity, which also featured a chalkboard inside.
Sarah and I had been slowly plugging away at our Sweet Clover office, and in September we were ready to share it with the world! Or at least with the .000000038 percent of the world that reads this blog.
In September I also shared a simple makeover of a midcentury desk, but I sure do love it- so much that I kept it for our living room!
In October our guest room received a mini makeover, and I kind of want to move in. This room just speaks to me!
All Fall, I’d been plugging away at the play room, and in November, I shared the final reveal! I’m proud to say that two months later, it hasn’t been totally destroyed by my kids actually using it for its purpose.
And last but not least, in December I finally shared the newest addition to our master bedroom, a gorgeous java gel midcentury dresser!
And there you have it! Those are my favorite DIY projects of 2014, the ones that make me most proud! For the most part, I have no idea what kind of DIY projects are in store for 2015, but time will tell! I have already completed my first furniture makeover of the year, and it’s part of a bigger project, but that’s the only one I have planned. For the rest of it, I am just going where my heart, mind, and paintbrush lead me. 🙂
