Feel Good Friday 103
This is going to be a short and sweet Feel Good Friday because it’s been a full week at work, plus I’ve got to get my house cleaned, styled and photographed so I can bring you probably the most lackluster holiday tour I’ve ever given. But this year, less is more. And I am OK with that. Because it also means that my life is full and that’s mostly a good thing.

Bye Bye Baby
I blinked and Sawyer became a man and Wilder became a little boy. And I became an old lady. I guess that’s just life. Anyhow, Wilder has grown so much since we moved here in January of 2019. He’s no longer a baby and is even outgrowing toddlerhood. I was waiting for us to be completely out of diapers to redo his room to suit his needs. He also recently told me he wanted new wallpaper, so that sort of set the whole thing in motion. As you can see from above, we’ve been working on it over the last week. I hung his new dinosaur paper that he selected (he liked that it had eggs and I liked that it worked with his painted ceiling!), rolled out his new rug, ordered new twin sized bedding (just have to order the bed!) and found him a great dresser on fb marketplace. Oh, and my parents are getting him the cutest sheets for Christmas.
Not a fantastic photo, but there’s his new-to-us dresser. The double knob on that second drawer drives me crazy – major pet peeve – so I will have to find a pull to replace it. I will say, it felt really good to start working on an actual house project. It’s been way too long! And Wilder is thrilled with how his room is coming along. He tends to dislike change. Last year when winter turned to spring and temperatures rose, he’d still go to school in sweatpants and long sleeve shirts because he didn’t like the idea of anything new. I am relieved that this change has gone over as well as it has.
Cookie Pie, but healthy
With Chris working so much, I haven’t tried any new recipes this week, but I did revisit an old favorite recently. This weekend, a friend hosted a small potluck (to announce to us that she is pregnant!!!!!!) and I volunteered to bring the squash soup we’ve been loving plus a dessert. I made this deep dish chocolate chip cookie pie that is totally vegan and made with chickpeas. It’s SO easy to make and my kids love it, too. I used to make it often to sneak beans into Sawyer. I remember him coming home from school one day and telling me and Chris, ” I don’t know what my problem is, but I couldn’t stop farting in school today.” We didn’t want to tell him the truth because then he’d never eat it again, so we just shrugged. “We dunno.”
It was all Red
You guys . . . I have been listening to Red: Taylor’s Version on repeat all week, especially the 10 minute version of All Too Well. SO GOOD. If you haven’t see the SNL performance or her hilarious SNL skit, you’re welcome.
Brushing up
At that potluck, one of my friends gave us each these female body planters. I’ve needed something to hold my cosmetic brushes and it’s perfect! It’s also a good reminder to love my body for what it can do . . . like hold things.
My Fav Date Night
Hands down, my favorite date nights involve the patio, the solo stove, beverages and charcuterie. Last weekend, Chris and I took a much needed Sunday evening on the patio with all of those things.
My current favorite wine is Meiomi Pinot Noir. It’s earthy and medium bodied and deliciously perfect for fall nights. And I always love making a charcuterie. We literally toss things on to a wooden board and they look lovely.
Life’s Little Moments
Wilder and I have enjoyed lots of afternoon walks with the dogs. He’s started hugging trees, literally. I don’t know where it came from, but I adore it.
And then there’s this guy. I think Sweet But a Psycho was written about him.
And on that note, I gotta run! I have a house to clean if I am going to invite you all in soon. Have a great weekend!
