Feel Good Friday 113
Spring is starting to wiggle its fingers and toes like one does after shavasana in yoga class, just breathing and coming back to life. Our daffodils have started to bloom and we even had a 70 degree day this week! While I am not ready for summer style heat, I am ready for some fresh air, fresh energy, and to unfurl with the season. Spring is a chance to wake up to our natural selves and that’s just what I plan to do. More on that later, but let’s just say I’ve made some decisions lately that feel more aligned with who I am. For now, let’s get to the good stuff I have to share this week.

Low Key Love Day
Our family celebrated Valentine’s Day in a very impromptu and low-key sort of way, which was honestly just perfect. Sawyer’s soccer coach decided to cancel the practice scheduled for 7:45 p.m. that night, so our family found itself with time on our hands. We made a breakfast dinner of air fryer french toast, Mediterranean frittata (recipe links below) and after Wilder went to bed, we watched a couple episodes of Murderville with the teens. I gave Chris two new puzzles (we love Charles Wysocki, so I got him this and this) and the Cards Against Humanity “Everything” box. But the best part was the “Crazy About You” card I purchased from a local artist via her etsy shop. Chris is taking me to a local jeweler to finally get a real wedding band. (I’ve worn a $40 gold wedding band for almost 19 years because I didn’t know what I wanted at the time. I just went with simple and cheap.) I will share details on that once we design it, but I am so excited!
I gave my kids a box of cookies from Dessert Du Jour, of course!
Recipe Love
I am failing as a blogger and forgot to take photos of many of the recipes we tried this week, but I’l share links. I am 100% not failing as an eater, apparently.
Air fryer french toast: We are loving our air fryer which is ridiculously easy to use and clean. When I came across this french toast recipe, I knew we had to try it! Simple, delicious, and the toast had a great crispy on the outside but soft on the inside kind of texture.
Mediterranean frittata: I made this one up using spinach, olives, red pepper, onion and feta, but this basic frittata recipe is similar to my own base. I simply started this one by sautéeing the onions in olive oil for a couple minutes, then adding the peppers and cooking a few more minutes, adding the spinach until it was totally wilted, then adding in the egg mixture. After the egg cooked for a few minutes, I sprinkled on sliced olives and feta cheese and baked until it was cooked.
Coconut Curry Salmon with Garlic Butter: Full disclosure, I burn the $hit out of our garlic butter, and we still loved this one. It’s that good! We used fresh broccolini because that’s what was available at the farmer’s market. 100% will make this one again. And maybe not burn the garlic.
Pardon the terrible photo of my partially eaten leftover meal of kitchari.
Kitchari: My close friend sent me her recipe for her absolute favorite comfort food, kitchari, which is an Ayurvedic delicious and nourishing cleansing stew. It’s an Indian dish made with mung beans, sweet potatoes, zucchini, ginger, turmeric and a few other spices. We used quinoa in place of rice, but you can do either. I just wanted the protein. I made it this week on the day that I happened to be starting my period and I swear to you it helped my bloating and cramping. It was like a warm hug for my insides and tasted fabulous as well. Chris enjoyed it, but wanted more to it, specifically he wished I’d bought naan bread.
Family Movie Night with the Littles
Last Friday, Chris was going to be late, so I forced my older two into some family time with me and Wilder. I popped some popcorn and we all piled onto the basement sofa for movie night. Since the Oscar nominees had been announced, I wanted to catch up on movies I haven’t seen and selected Raya and the Last Dragon. Wilder has only sat for one entire movie before – Encanto – and this one had him not moving from the couch. We all absolutely loved this one and Awkwafina is fabulous as Sisu. If you haven’t seen it, check out the trailer below:
Vitamin She
I’ve been using some rather expensive hair vitamins, but came across these on Amazon. I compared the nutritional label to the ones I already had and they were practically the same. I made the swap a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share since they’re a much better deal.
Let me see that thong
I needed some new undies for working out, especially on the Peloton. I came across these Under Armour thongs and they’re so comfortable. You don’t even feel like you’re wearing anything under your leggings. Highly recommend for wearing with workout leggings!
Saving all my love for yoga
Lately, I don’t have as much time for yoga, but I do make sure to get in a practice on Saturdays. Last weekend, I did a Whitney Houston themed class and it was amazing! The music was fabulous and the instructor encouraged dancing, which I was 100% participating in! It was a fun way to get my flow on. I honestly can’t say enough good things about my Peloton App (not just the bike). I use it for yoga, strength, stretching and more. Currently, I am doing the Crush Your Core program. If you’d like a free 60 day pass to try the app, here ya go!
Life’s Little Moments
Last week, Wilder was with me at the grocery store when I was in the toothbrush aisle, selecting new tips for Sawyer’s electric toothbrush. He saw the Paw Patrol electric brush and begged to have it. His dentist had suggested an electric brush, so I figured, why not? When we got home, he had to immediately brush his teeth. I wish this photo could convey the giggles of delight that sounded through the house as we brushed his teeth. He was in dental heaven. If that’s a thing.
This weekend, we have nothing on the calendar and I could not be happier about it. After weekends of dividing and conquering with our kids, I am so happy that we’ll all be under one roof with no agenda. Hope you have a restful weekend as well!
