Feel Good Friday 14
Hello, friends! You’ve made it to Friday which is cause for celebration. Chris and I have a much needed date night tonight and I am looking forward to it… with the holiday rush, we missed a December date. Tonight we are headed out with another couple and are honestly pretty excited that we’re finally starting to make some couple friends. 🙂 It’s been a long-feeling short week here with the kids out of school Monday and Tuesday, and I am here for the weekend. Today I’ve got some great brands that are doing good, books that could change your life, and other little bits of happiness in Feel Good Friday 14. I hope you enjoy! Change Your Toilet Paper and Change the World– As someone who creates content, I get a lot of requests for partnerships from brands. I am really picky about whom I work with, and always make sure they are in line with my ethos and something that my readers would get value from. Recently, I was approached by a toilet paper company to collaborate on an instagram post. I was hesitant at first, because it was toilet paper, and what could I possibly share about that. However, then I checked out their website and there was NO WAY I could say no to sharing this company. (FYI, they sponsored an instagram post, but I love what they are doing in the world so much that I wanted to spread the word here as well. This is not at all sponsored.) Reel toilet paper creates bamboo toilet paper which makes it much more sustainable. Using fast-growing bamboo reduces the need to cut down slow-growing trees, and bamboo also uses much less water. In addition to being eco-friendly, Reel cares about giving back and helping those in need. Their mission page states, “2.4 billion people are forced to defecate outside — meaning lost dignity, deadly pathogens, contaminated water, and loss of life. Our mission is clear. For every roll you buy, we donate a single-use biodegradable toilet to someone in need. Our toilets neutralize bacteria so waste can be turned into valuable fertilizer. Starting in Kenya, people now have a healthier, safer option.” Wow, right? They are changing the world with their product and altruism, and I just had to share with you. And for the record, the paper is great quality. 😉 My friends at Reel are offering my readers $10 off your first subscription box or 15% off a single purchase order using code CASS.
Encouraging Books for the Entrepreneur– Recently while browsing my “what’s available: nonfiction” section of my Libby app, I came across Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk. This book was a little outdates as it was written before instagram was even around, but I found it really encouraging to entrepreneurs. Gary is enthusiastic and truly believes in what he’s saying. I enjoyed that book so much, that I searched Libby for the follow up, Crushing It, which I found available as well. I am almost done with that book, but it’s amazing! Gary shares several ideas on how one can make it as an entrepreneur/content creator/influencer. Interwoven throughout this book are stories of people who read Crush It, and took his advice and made it big! I love hearing those inspiring stories because they give me the fuel and encouragement I need to keep reaching for my dreams.
Eco-friendly Activewear– Almost every day, I walk or run outside or head to the gym to hit yoga, spin, body pump, barre, or just run on the treadmill. While I love thrifted fashion because of the budget and its low environmental impact, there are some things that I won’t buy used, like leggings. I actually wear Nike Legend leggings often because they are made from recycled plastic bottles, and I love the fit, feel and the fact that they are Dri Fit. Other than that, I have been stuck on where to shop for eco-friendly active wear. Thankfully, my friend Joanna put together a blog post highlighting several companies selling great pieces that are safer for the environment. I can’t wait to check out some of these brands!
Mindset Adjustment– In this episode of Marie TV Simon Sinek talks about his new book The Infinite Game and the concept behind it. I listened to it as a podcast and it truly changed the way I think. Most of us think on a smaller scale, how can I win at life right now in this finite game of my life. However, if we think with an infinite mindset, we will start to work for a just cause, rather than for, say, a promotion or raise or moment in the sun. If we instead think about the world as infinite, we will see that we can contribute to the greater good, and in the process become leaders. It’s not about what the world can give me while I am here, but what I can give to the world as my legacy that will continue on after I am gone. I probably am not paraphrasing his thoughts very well, but I can’t wait to read his book! The podcast episode really opened my eyes to seeing things in a new way. I also think that the infinite mindset goes hand in hand with the belief that the universe is abundant and just because someone else has or does something doesn’t mean you can not get it or do it, too. We can all contribute in our own way and at our own pace.
I will leave you with that today. I hope you have an amazing weekend, and I hope that you get out there and feel good, do some good, and maybe take some time to nourish your soul a bit, too. Happy weekend, friends!
