Feel Good Friday 51
We had a little heat wave last week, but it feels like Autumn is finally settling in, which means it’s time to get cozy! For this week’s Feel Good Friday, I thought I would share some favorite items for cozying up, as well as a last minute fun Halloween movie that I had never heard of before last week. I also have a few other fun things to share that have helped me prepare for some holiday crafting. Also, can I just say that I can’t believe Sunday officially kicks off the holiday season in blogland?!?! 2020 is going to go down as the fastest longest year. Ok, let’s get ready to snuggle up, maybe not literally with me because social distancing, but theoretically. (I am an Amazon Associate, and also use other affiliate links. Cozy Bedding
It’s been a while since I’ve shared many house updates, but we’ve done some little things here and there. Our bedroom was in need of a new duvet cover, and I had been crushing on solid linen. During their Labor Day weekend sale, I purchased this linen duvet cover and shams in terra cotta from West Elm. Let me tell you, we are absolutely thrilled with this change! While we loved the look of our old duvet, the gauze fabric was always slipping around and it drove the household bedmaker, AKA Chris, crazy! When I suggested a new duvet cover, he was all in. We both like to be cool at night when we sleep, and prefer a light weight and crisp feel, and this set ticks all the comfort boxes, plus the warm earthy color is perfect in our space with our color block wall. I also want to mention that abstract throw pillow… I met several creative entrepreneurs through doing B school this year, and one such woman created this pillow and sent it to me! The colors complement my bedding so well! She also offers masks, paintings, and more!
Last Minute Halloween Movie
Last week Emmy and I watched a trailer for a movie I came across when searching for fun family Halloween films. After seeing what it was about, she selected it for her movie night this past weekend. While Fun Size is a teenage rom com, it had our entire family (minus Wilder who was in bed!) laughing! I would not recommend it for elementary school aged kids, but upper middle school and high school for sure could handle it- there is no sexual content, but there are references made. Check out the trailer here.
Warmest Durable & (more) Ethical Boots
I have been an Uggs girl for the last several years, but without fail, I always make a hole in the toe of my suede boots, and it feels like it doesn’t take long for that to happen. For the price, they should be lasting me a lot longer, even if I have wonky feet. 😉 In my quest to find new boots that would feel just like the warm hug that Uggs offer my calves, a friend told me about these boots. (Actually, she told me about the shorter version, but I wanted the taller ones pictured above.) They are pricier, but made with much more durable leather so I truly believe they will last. Additionally, the brand offers re-soling to extend the life of the leather upper, which means less need for more future leather purchases. Chris bought these for me for our anniversary, and I am kind of excited for the temperatures to really drop so I can live in them! By the way, I use the term “more” ethical because I 100% realize that leather is made from animal product; however, the leather of these boots is treated with ethical and sustainable processes using vegetable products, which is not always they case.
28 Day Life Changing Book
Truth be told, I have not yet purchased this book, but am hoping to get it. My coach told me about the book and film of the same title, The Secret. I watched the documentary on Netflix, and it’s basically about the law of attraction, and really that the secret to getting what you want in life is much more simple and accessible than you might ever imagine. The author of The Secret, Rhonda Byrne, has a book out called The Magic, where she helps you apply the knowledge in a 28 day format. I am hoping to buy this one, or get it for Christmas, and work on it in January.
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Oh yes, I took a screen shot of the Hallmark Countdown to Christmas schedule that my friend Jen shared. I have been a long time card-carrying member of the Hallmark Holiday Film Club, and I don’t intend to turn my card in any time soon. Are you ready?!?!
Holiday Craft Supplies I’m Using
Tis the season for holiday crafting, and I’ve got a couple of fun and rather simple projects coming up in the next month that I will share. First off, I am jumping on the orange slice bandwagon, and putting my dehydrator to use. I purchased this dehydrator maybe 4 years ago, and it’s still going strong. I’ve used it only to dry herbs, but so far I am 24 hours in to running it with my orange slices in it and they’re looking great! Secondly, I’m also planning some super simple DIY holiday ornaments, and purchased these simple plain wood ornaments. I couldn’t believe how inexpensive they were!
The One Thing I Didn’t Know I Needed
Last week, I received a wonderful surprise box from a local shopping center (I can actually walk there from my home.) It was filled with all sorts of fun goodies for a girl’s night in, and one item in there has come in so handy. You know when something comes into your life and improves it, and you aren’t sure how you lived before? Well, that’s how it was for me with these Dry Goods Blue Light Glasses. I didn’t realize just how much my eyes were suffering from staring at a phone and computer screen so much, but these glasses have made such a difference to me. And they’re pretty darn cute, according to Frank.
Well, my friend, I hope this post helps you get cozy this weekend! Tell me what you’re looking forward to most in the upcoming colder weather!
