Feel Good Friday 55
Why, yes, I am posting this on a Saturday. Yesterday I shared my second holiday tour and I don’t like to bombard you. I missed last week due to Thanksgiving, so I really wanted to pop in here and bring you some of the things that have been bringing me joy throughout the last two weeks. To be honest, with Christmas tour season and my new job, things have been hectic here, so I am going to try to keep this short on words, but big on happiness.
Holiday Movie
Thanksgiving evening, Chris and I snuggled up on the couch to watch Happiest Season, which is sort of this year’s family dromedy, and it did not disappoint. I will say that Jane, a supporting role, stole the show for me. She was hilarious!!!! You can check out the trailer here:
Local Fun
With my new job, I’ve been doing a bit more exploring of Greensboro. We’ve been trying to hit up some of the local holiday fun and photo opps. I strongly encourage you to check all of your local facebook pages, events calendars and more and discover what’s happening near you. We’ve been to a light installation at our local shopping center (above photo), a light show walk-through at our science center, and have plans to head downtown to check out more this weekend.
masked fam photo at the science center… and I had washed Wilder’s mask and forgot it!
Hilarious podcast
By now you know how much I adore The Moth podcast, but this episode with funny animal stories had me rolling!!!!! I laughed so hard! If you need to work those abdominals, try listening to this instead… you’ll laugh so hard your stomach will hurt.
Retro Running Shoes
I love the look of retro running shoes but can never find them in the brands that work well for me when I actually, well, run. Brooks has been my go-to brand for my flat feet for a while now, and I was stoked to nab these retro green and gold running shoes on sale. These were my high school colors! My parents actually went to the same high school as me, so I texted them the above picture since my shoes had a retro 1970s Minnechaug vibe…. they agreed! By the way, my friend Andi told me that they come out with Christmas Brooks each year. How did I not know that? It’s too late for me this time, but next year I may have to grab a pair. I run enough that it’s worth it, and they are probably sprinkled with elf dust to make me run faster.
Christmas Song
I was blown away by the talent that is Leslie Odom Jr. in Hamilton, and was excited to listen to his Christmas albums. This song in particular is so beautiful.
Holiday Craft
My good friend Julia is one of the most creative people I know. This year she shared several gorgeous macrame ornaments, and you’ve got to head over to her blog to see how to make them. I am a huge fan of the star shape.
Delicious Hot Fresh Baked Bread You Don’t Have to Make!
I had the opportunity to try out Wildgrain recently, and lemme tell you… it’s incredible! I try to limit my bread as much as I can, but we are a carb-loving family. Wildgrain sends a box of frozen baked breads and goods, and you just put them in your freezer until you are ready to use. When you’ve got the hankering for warm, crusty, delicious steaming soft in the middle bread, you pop it in the oven (from its frozen state) and bake according to the directions. Boom… fresh bread. It’s insanely good! So far we’ve tried a rosemary sourdough and a 7 grain sourdough. Both were incredible! We served them with hot soups as you can see above. I can’t recommend this enough if you love bread, too! And it would make a great holiday gift. Check it out here.
Neighborhood peeps
As you know, I love to stroll my neighborhood and scope out all of the seasonal decor. I absolutely love what this house did to their tall shrubs… so clever! They’ve since decorated more, and it looks gorgeous lit at night, but this is the photo on my camera roll. 😉
Well, friend, like I said… keeping this short on words! I wish you a joyous and festive weekend, whether you explore your town’s safe festivities, or stay snugly at home on your sofa with holiday music and cocoa.
