Feel Good Friday 56
Yeah, I know it’s a Saturday again. Although 2020 has led to mass confusion about the continuum of time, I do know it’s not Friday, but with Christmas tour season upon us, my schedule has been a little off. I couldn’t let the week go by without a FGF post for you because these are my favorites. Let’s get right to it with all of the happy things! This blog uses affiliate links. Thank you for your support!
Holiday Date Nights
What Chris lacks in enthusiasm for holidays, I make up for 100-fold. I dragged him out a couple times this past week to make up for some lost date nights since it had been a while. We hit our downtown for Light the Nights which was incredibly cool and unique! Greensboro closed its main streets so people could freely walk, and there were light shows and displays as well as snow machines and so much more. Again, I highly suggest you check out your local websites to find some holiday fun in your area. After walking around and shopping, we ended our night at a local brewery. (BTW- we wore masks and sanitized!)
Chris does enjoy a good beer, and I enjoy a good holiday movie, so we also hit up another local brewery for holiday movie trivia night this week. I am proud to say we won the first two rounds under the team name of Snots (who can tell me where I got that name?!), and came home with two gift cards which we plan to use on the 22 for holiday song theme night. BTW, you can see below we scored a perfect 10 out of 10 on that first round.
Local Consignment Shops
As you know from my thrifted fashion challenge last year, I love a good consignment shop! Our favorite local kids consignment shop celebrated their 1st birthday last month and we joined in the festivities. What a year to just be starting a business, right? I wanted to go show them some support and love and got lucky and scored these adorable green jeans for Wilder. They’re paired with this cute thrifted sweater and his “big cheese” smile.
New Holiday Movie
Have you checked out Jingle Jangle yet on Netflix? My musical-lovin’ heart was all in on this one! No one in my family wanted to watch with me, so I snuggled in bed by myself this week and had a fantastic time. The cast is extremely talented, and the show was a feast for the eyes. Check out the trailer.
Fun Christmas Show
I am a huge fan of the short festive series that have come out as well. Dash & Lily on Netflix is an adorable series based on a young adult book. To be honest, I kept telling Emmy she would love it and we should watch it together, and finally I gave up and watched it on my own. I am a 42 year old woman who loves young adult books and movies and shows and I am not ashamed. Check out the trailer below… I will say, I totally relate to Lily. She’s that girl that loves all of the Christmas cheese.
New Family Game Night Additions
For the longest time, I’ve wanted What Do You Meme? and Cards Against Humanity. I’ve bought neither since Chris and I don’t really have other adults to play with and they’re a little inappropriate for our kids, even the teens. I had no idea that they’d finally come out with family editions of BOTH until I saw them on Emmy’s Christmas list and quickly added both to cart. I can’t wait to crack them open! Find them here and here.
The Best NoK-ish in the World!
With this year being unique, so many events that are for good causes are having to pivot. My friends actually run (and I mean manage/own) a local race that raises money and collets food donations for Second Harvest. Chris and I participated last year, and it’s an incredible run that goes through Sunset Hills, a neighborhood that we can walk to from ours. This year, they’re asking everyone to run any amount that you want, whenever and wherever you’d like. The point is to do it for a good cause! Chris and I registered and made a donation, and took a walk through it with Wilder on Sunday night. If you are looking for a worthy cause to donate to this year, check it out here. As my friend told me, she was very worried because 2020 is the year that they need these money and food donations more than ever. We’ll be back to running through it next year, I know.
WHAT? Another new Taylor Swift album?
Twas the night before Evermore, when all through the ranch,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a pooch.
The towels were thrown on the floor without care,
In hopes that the cleaning fairy would soon be there.
The teenagers were snug on the sofa with a Switch,
While visions of pixels made them twitch.
Papa still at work, and I in my bed,
Had fallen asleep at the drop of my head.
When I awoke in the morn’ I saw such a sight,
T. Swift had dropped another album that night!
I raced to Alexa, shouting, “Play Tay Tay’s latest, what a gift!”
She responded with, “The Album Evermore by Taylor Swift.”
From the moment the first chord strummed through the speaker,
I knew that I’d met my brand new repeater.
As the children awoke to the sounds of her voice,
I praised her record label, danced and rejoiced.
As the album played through then came to a beautiful end,
I whispered quietly, “Thank you, Taylor, my friend.”
You guys, just go do yourself a favor and listen to Evermore by Taylor Swift. The end.
Healthy Baking?
Wilder has taken to calling m&ms “beans” and I am here for it. You want beans for dinner? Of course. Beans in your cookies? Definitely. Here he is helping me make “bean cookies” last weekend. The tip toes, the outfit, and the determination make my mama heart go pitter patter.
Well, that’s all for this week. I hope you have a beautiful and festive weekend! I’ve got a little Secret Santa outdoor exchange happening here Sunday night, and am headed out to pick up what I ordered right now! She likes plants and puppies, so I ordered from a local woman who’s starting her own tiny plant business, though I easily could have adopted a puppy for her. 😉 Cheers, friend.
