Framed Family Photos: Adding Weight, Color, and Texture to My Nightstands with Framebridge

(This is reposted from yesterday as my site was down due to a server issue). One thing leads to another, certainly in my house anyhow.  We’ve recently made some changes to our master bedroom including a mudcloth headboard and beige striped Moroccan blanket.  With the removal of our old folding screen headboard, the nightstands were looking a little sparse and neglected.  We have simple gold lamps from Ikea, and they looked a little weak, so my easy solution was to be try to find something at a thrift shop to replace them.  However, I wanted to bring in a bit of subtle color in blush and plum, which were our color accents in our most recent family photos.  When Framebridge approached me about using their custom frames in my home, I knew that this was the perfect opportunity for me to bring in that touch of color, add weight to my bedside area without replacing the lamps, and have our family photos custom framed to fit our home.  Today I want to show you the framed family photos and how they impacted our space.

Bohemian Bedroom with Custom Framed Family Photos from Framebridge

Framebridge offers custom framing of your artwork or photos at a fraction of the cost most places charge.  If you’re using digital images, you simply download the image and choose your frame; however, if you have a hard copy, you can also mail that in to be framed.  The company was founded locally, which was a bonus to me as I love supporting businesses in my area.  Before choosing my photos, I measured the space above the nightstands because I was hoping to squeeze in more than one large photo.  I didn’t want anything too small as I wanted to color to make an impact.  The roof is also angled on either side of the bed, so I don’t have the full ceiling height to work with.Framebridge Framed Family Photos with Cape Cod Angled Roof

I was thrilled to find I could fit two stacked on either side of the bed with the photos inside the frame measuring 8×12… a good size to bring in some color!  As for the frames themselves, here’s where I needed the impact and the weight.  Framebridge has a fantastic selection of frames  and I contemplated the gold bamboo style, Mandalay.  A couple of years ago, we purchased these as a gift for my mother-in-law, and after seeing them in person this past Christmas, I was in love.  However, in my own space, I needed something with more substance and width.  After perusing all of the styles, I narrowed my choices down to the Jambi tiger wood frame which I knew would pair nicely with my midcentury dresser, and the Cairo burl wood frame which would bring in the lighter tones of my modern wood planked wall.  I tell you about this process because it’s one of those things I used to not put as much thought into.  When I was an apartment dweller and then new  homeowner years ago, I would simply choose frames I thought were pretty.  Now I know it is one of those choices that requires much more thought and consideration if you want those framed photos to have longevity.

After mulling it all over, I settled on the Cairo.  I loved that it would bring in the lighter wood tones of the wall the photos would face, but also featured the darker tones in of the dresser on the adjacent wall in the graining.  On Chris’ side of the bed, I added a photo of me and Sawyer, and a photo of Emmy (all taken by the talented Eddie of Jalapeno Photography).

On my side of the bed I added a photo of Chris and Emmy as well as one of Sawyer solo.Framebridge Framed Family Photos with Color

Last week I had hinted about bringing color to the nightstand and several of you guessed, but only one or two got it right that my rose quartz was the clue and blush would be the color. (Also, that book, Night Film… SO good so far!!!)Blush accents on nightstand

The frames themselves are a work of art, smooth and beautiful, with swirling warm wood tones.Framebridge Cairo Burl Wood Frame

On the adjacent wall sits our darker wood midcentury dresser.

The frames feature a hint of that darker color in their graining, making them perfect for this space.

The framed photos brought in everything I was looking for… weight, color, texture.  Now the simplicity of my bedside lamps works beautifully.  They’re light and clean and don’t distract from the photos, which is what I want the eye drawn.

I absolutely love that these pieces are special to us, and yet fit the design of our bedroom so flawlessly.  If you are considering adding some special art or photography to your space, check out Framebridge as they have many styles to fit your home and provide an upscale appearance.  Now through May 31, 2017, you can use coupon code cassie15 to get 15% off your first Framebridge order!

The lamps are perfect for the spot and I love the way the frames “frame” the window and bed. It ties together so smoothly 🙂

These look great Cassie! I love the moulding you chose and the symmetry of the frames on either side of the bed. Plus the subjects in the photo are all adorable so there’s that 🙂
