Free Summer Printable
Hi, friend! I hope you had a fun filled long weekend with your family, doing some of your favorite things, and feeling thankful to all who have served and sacrificed for us. Can you even believe that the unofficial kickoff to summer has just happened? The last few months have been just so freaking weird, and I know this will be a summer like no other. When I was asked by my friend Krista to join her in a summer printable hop, I knew two things right away… I wanted my printable to feature the sun, and I wanted it to have words of hope. I am sharing this printable with you today, showing it to you in my home, and inviting you to download and print your own copy for free. At the bottom of this post, you can also find links to several other free summer printables.

Here’s a little known fact about me… I have two tattoos. (I am also considering a small third one, sorry Mom!) The second tattoo I got is in the shape of a sun on my lower back, aka the tramp stamp. (BTW, my coach and I bonded over the fact that she has a moon tramp stamp… that’s how I knew she was the coach for me.) As a Leo, I am ruled by the sun. Anyone who knows me also knows that I wake with the sun, actually usually before it and thoroughly enjoy a good sunrise. Almost 20 years ago, Chris and I went to Hawaii, and I remember even at the young age of 23, I woke early every day of our vacation, leaving Chris to sleep, so that I could go walk on the beach and enjoy the sunrise. I repeated that when we went to Costa Rica as well, and these days I wake at 5:15, and love to see the oranges and pinks light the sky first thing each day.
The sun rising is a sign of hope, life, promise of a new opportunity. You might recall last year when we celebrated Wilder’s first birthday, the theme was Here Comes the Sun, because that song holds a lot of meaning to me as he was my sun coming after so many dark nights. (Sorry not sorry for inserting this photo….)
When it came time to design a summer printable for you, I decided to combine my passion for the sun, words of hope, and my love of a good folk rock boy band to create this piece. (By the way, It fills up the whole page, but my paper was a little bigger than the 8×10 that I sized the print for).

As for the actual words, I contemplated using lyrics from Here Comes the Sun, but that song is just so sacred to me that I couldn’t do it. However, these lyrics from The Avett Brothers song, Please Pardon Yourself, felt very fitting, and they’re a local band to North Carolina. I was actually introduced to them in 2011. I remember the timing exactly, because we were staying with my parents after selling one house and struggling to find a new one. I would walk their neighborhood playing The Avett Brothers over and over. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do! You won’t regret it.
I created this printable to be 8×10, but printed it on larger paper because I wanted to use thicker artist paper as opposed to printer paper and mine was larger than 8×10, so I just trimmed it down. If you print on 8×10 you won’t have the white along the bottom. I had planned on framing it, but then I just placed it on my shelf above my desk and I loved how it looked there without a frame, just casually resting.
I spend a good part of my day at this desk, working, journaling, planning, so I love that right now as I write this post, I can look up and see those words reminding me that although we are in weird times, “the day will come, the sun will rise, and we’ll be fine.” If you are struggling to find hope in this time, print this out and look at it as a reminder. Better yet, get up early, find somewhere peaceful and quiet, and watch the sun rise. One cannot help but be filled with hope in the dawning of a new day. Wishing you happiness, hope, and purpose during this time.
