Teenage Girl Gift Guide
It’s that time of year! I don’t know about you guys, but choosing the right gifts sometimes stresses me out, so in order to help you this season, I’m going to be putting together several gift guides over the course of the next few weeks. I cheated a bit, and asked for help directly from the source on this one. Emmy will be 13 in January, so I figure she’s close enough to being a teen. Luckily for me, she always has an extensive list going on, even when she says she isn’t asking for that much. 😉 Today I am going to share her great ideas with you in this edition of my gift guide: teen girl. Most likely this will be my lengthiest gift guide…. if we still wrote lists on paper (she emailed this to me), it would have been on a very long scroll. (This blog uses affiliate links.)
What to get your teenage daughter this Christmas
After looking over Emmy’s final list the other day, something became very clear to me. I am raising the next Sporty Spice, and she told me what she wants, what she really really wants. It seems to be a look a lot of the girls are into at the moment, and honestly I love it! It’s comfortable, cute, and shows a little girl power. Emmy also loves to accessorize. She attends a school with SMOD (standard method of dress) and has to wear a polo and skort or khakis (which she refuses!) every day. Because of that, she loves fun shoes and accessories to accent her “boring” outfits. Lastly, she’s also still my very artistic daughter, so her list has a couple of more creative items as well, though she is well-stocked with most supplies. Let’s dig into her list!
Creative Gift Ideas
Skillshare Membership: Skillshare is a website that offers over 30,000 video classes in all sorts of things- creative, business, life, and more. Emmy is really interested in learning new ways to create art, creative hand lettering, as well as using her phone and computer to create graphic art and digital media. I signed her up already because I was pretty excited about this one, too! Emmy and I are both excited to learn new skills, but this subscription is definitely more for her. With winter coming, and soccer season over, I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t just idling in front of a screen and was actually actively learning. Skillshare offers project submissions as well, so it can be more participatory, too. The kind people at Skillshare have also offered to give my readers two free months and you can sign up here.
Colorful Felt Tip Pens– What kid doesn’t like to doodle? And with limited edition candy pop marker pens nonetheless? Fancy!
Pencil Case/ Craft Organizer– I was told that this item was a “need” for school. I will trust Emmy on this one. It’s not super cute, so I really appreciate that she went utilitarian on me here.
Clothing Gift Ideas
Adidas Printed Jogger– These printed joggers are so fun, comfortable, cozy, and still very feminine. My girl doesn’t like to wear dresses anymore, but damn if she loves some floral pants! I’ll take her girliness where I can get it. This is the top that she selected to go with these pants- it’s simple and lets the joggers be the star.
Adidas Track Pant– The classic Adidas track pant also comes in this gorgeous soft pink. Again, these are athletic but still soft. These pants pair perfectly with this fun geometric sweatshirt in colors that remind me of my 80s childhood. This leopard tee is also a great fit for these pants.
Yellow Chenille Sweater (by Art Class)- In addition to sporty, Emmy also loves to wear cozy items. Now that I think of it, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as I sit here typing with a cozy sweater, leggings, and uggs. 😉 This yellow color is a huge trend right now, and the nubby chenille is really soft. We saw this one in the store and she immediately added it to her Christmas list.
Shoes & Accessory Gifts
Adidas Superstar Shoes– How fun are these shoes? I LOVE them, and they are 50% off! They don’t have too many sizes left, so if you think your daughter will love them, hurry to check them out! They also have some really cool holographic ones that aren’t 50% off, but all full price is 25% off as well.
Nike Air Force 1– These are such a classic and a staple to any wardrobe!
Chestnut Uggs– These are definitely not a budget friendly item, but I know Emmy is at the age where the brand of shoe is going to matter. We got really lucky last year and found a pair of Uggs in her size barely used at a thrift shop. If we get her these, it will honestly be the only thing she gets, minus some stocking stuffers. However, I am an Uggs supporter, and wear mine ALL THE TIME, so I do understand this one. I had knock offs once and they fell apart at the sole.
Evil Queen Purse– Emmy had a list a million long of novelty purses including a taco and boom box, but the one that made her final list was this evil queen purse. I am not sure what to think about that.
Sloth Makeup Pouch– Girls of all ages love fun makeup pouches, and this one comes in a sloth print as well as many others including llamas, pugs, hearts, and leopard… pretty much all you need. It’s perfect for sleepovers!
Air Pods with Charging Case– Emmy has been asking for these for some time. They’re rather pricey, and she realizes that, in which case she said she’s OK with generic brand. And if she gets the generic brand, she will then need the next gift.
Fun Air Pod Case– Emmy selected this air pod case, and it’s adorable and she is a big fan of blue. To be honest, I would have expected her to choose this avocado one.
I hope you found these ideas helpful for this season of giving when you are out there shopping for your teenage daughter or sister, or perhaps Sporty Spice. As I mentioned, I am planning to put together more gift guides, so if you have anyone you are looking for help with, drop me a comment and let me know what guide you’d like to see!
