Um yeah, you read that right…. my guest room & office reveal. Do you remember that time last year that I showed off my office in a bedroom for Ehow and then just never shared the whole shebang? Well, I started using the office and I don’t need to tell you what happened next… it became a bit disorganized and messy. And ever since then I’ve shared peeks of the guest room such as on my Christmas tour, but I always conveniently left out the office area. I bet you even forgot it was in there! I cleaned it up recently to take photos for my Spring tour and as it turned out I had 483 photos in my tour so decided to save some for a separate guest room office post. So today is the day after all this time!
Most of the time when I show you the guest room, this is the view you get.But what happens when I turn the camera just a little to the right….
Oh hey, there’s a desk and shelving unit on that wall!
Our house is not a large house, but it’s always been important for me to have a guest room, a place friends and family can crash and call their own while they stay here.
We’ve created a cozy guest room with a kilim dresser, white bedding, a vintage headboard, and black moody walls. It’s truly one of my favorite spaces as I have decorated with textures, colors, and patterns that I love.On the other side of the bed I added a glass and brass hoofed table that never sold at Sweet Clover, and I loved. So I brought it home and added it to the guest room.
I added a woven tray, some seashells as well as a planter I painted and some greenery to bring some life to this space.
But with business ownership as well as the blog, I started to feel like I really needed an office space, aka a dumping ground for all of my papers and receipts. I decided that a desk was needed to help contain my business items at home, as well as give me a quiet space to work on occasion. I painted this midcentury desk for Sweet Clover and it had not sold either, and it was the perfect fit stylistically as well as size-wise.
Sarah, my business partner, happened to have the shelving unit in her garage, so I bought that from her. She also created the wall hanging you see.
I had fun accessorizing this space with vintage finds as well as some gifts from friends and family photos.
The vintage card display I found on a trip to Cape Cod last year, and it is perfect in this space. I love to change out the photos seasonally, so right now it features Spring and Summer photos. I can’t even handle the cuteness. Do you see those pigtails? And Sawyer’s longer hair? Even our old dog Charlie is pictured and a much younger Jake.
Excuse me while I pick myself up from a weeping puddle on the floor.
Currently on my desk, I’ve got planners and journals I fully intend to use…. is it too late to start planning 2016? And I know you are all eyeing my amazing unicorn notebook. It was a gift from a friend who tuly gets me. I also am stoked to have my copy of my friend Amy’s book, Crafting with Nature which will be released in less than one week! You can get your copy here. I plan to dive into it during Spring break and can’t wait!So now that I have shared this space again, guess what…. I dumped a bunch of papers on the desk… winning at life! In my next life I am going to come back with some organizational skills. For now I am going to free-spirit and meander through this world.
Cheers!
