Hi guys! I am so excited to share with you my halloween home tour today as part of the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours hosted by Lindsay. I always do a little decorating for Halloween because my kids absolutely love it… and I am truly a big kid at heart, too! This year, with my newfound free time, I did a little more than in previous years (you can check out last year here) and I can’t wait to show you, so let’s get to it, shall we?
If you are stopping over from Jennifer at The Chronicles of Home, welcome! I always love her eclectic modern style and her front door looks so festive- you’ve got to see it! Let’s start today at our main entry. This door is our “front door” and it faces our stairs, downstairs hallway and cedar closet-mudroom. Upon walking in our home through this entry, the living room is to the left and the dining room to the right, just to give you a lay of the land. I painted this wall with chalkboard paint years ago, and truly thought I was over it, but then I worked some Halloween magic on it, and I think I love it again. For now. As you can see it is also a place where the kids hang their hats and backpacks, and I left Emmy’s snow tiger hat in place because it kind of fit right in with its black and white pattern. The dining room is one of the rooms in our home that I always love to change for the season. The table can really set the mood and be an easy change. Pardon the passed out pup…. I work around 3 dogs and sometimes they’re just camera hogs.

The bar cart was a recent addition and I first shared it in my fall tour, and I saw it as a new opportunity for seasonal decor. I have had these black crows from the dollar store forever, and always love wiring them into new pieces each year. The bar cart handle was the perfect landing place.Shop the Bar Cart
Emmy and I found this little ghost at a thrift shop one day, and he’s ready to spook you from his hiding place in the jade. And my favorite touch is the lace covered vintage glove mold. I had these fingerless black lace gloves from an 80’s party I went to 6 years ago, and it struck me that the vintage glove mold could get a Halloween vibe if it donned one.Next to the bar cart sits a daybed that gets a lot of use from Emmy and Snowball, so I thought it would be fun to switch out the pillows.
I shared several affordable pillow finds the other day, and here are a few of the ones I selected on the daybed. My absolute favorite is the cheshire cat pillow, but the skull in a headdress is also a new addition as well as the black and white marble pillow that I found for $5 at Target! They are a fun addition to the eclectic mix I have.
The blue cabinet in the corner of our dining room also got a little festive… oh, and I should mention I recently pulled the hide rug out of the living room, and put it in here, and I love how it looks! It lightens up the space.
I had one more crow on hand so added him to my boho peace sign, and added a little owl and a pumpkin that Emmy painted to the top of the cabinet.
But I’ve saved the best part of this room for last… the dining table! I created a creepy Halloween tablescape using black, white, silver, and vintage amber bottles.
To be quite honest, I had no idea what I would do on the table, but I stumbled upon these marble look pumpkins at Target, and then came across this fabulous silver toadstool there as well, and I started planning a black, white, and silver scene in my head.
How awesome are these marble like pumpkins? They were only $3 each, too! After grabbing those items at Target, I came home and opened up my box of Halloween decor and found my rats, the black cloth, and silver glittery spiders. I had also brought home vintage amber bottles from the shop as I knew I wanted to use them. I used a glass cake plate like this with the cloth draped over it to add height and interest.
The amber bottles add a nice vintage touch and warmth to the table.
I already had the black goblets from a few years ago, and they are fitting for a Halloween dining experience, but I also think they can be made festive with gold and white for the holidays.
Some other additions are my vintage candlesticks, mercury glass candlesticks, my DIY log candlesticks, and some painted pumpkins that Emmy and I created last weekend with a little slate chalk paint and metallic paint pens.
Here is a closer look at one of the pumpkins I painted.
And the table wouldn’t be complete without silver glittery creepy crawly spiders making their way to your fork.
I had so much fun putting together this Halloween dining room, and the kids and I are enjoying eating at this table… I am not sure what that might say about us, but just make your own conclusions.
Let’s head on over to the other side of our main entry and into the living room. This room used to house the metallic hide rug that’s in the dining room, but I played a little switcheroo and replaced it with a vintage persian rug that used to be in the guest room. Red is typically not my color, but with the holidays around the corner, I thought it might be a nice touch.Shop the Living Room:
I’ve had these bats since we first moved in and a good friend sent me Halloween decorations to get me started in the new home.I’ve had to bring in most of my houseplants for the season since the temperatures have started to drop, and the living room gets such great light that it’s where most have landed. So we’ve got sort of a lush boho Halloween thing going on here at the moment, but I love it.
My vintage blue velvet sofa got some new faux fur gray pillows and a floral skull, both from Amazon. I’ll be keeping the fur out through the winter. The throw was a gift from my bestie last year, and it’s so soft and cozy this time of year. (Similar blanket here).Across from this sofa sits our West Elm Henry sofa in dove gray velvet. I added some black and white tribal pillows from Amazon and then we added the wolf, which actually has a funny story.
The kids came home from school and I told them about the pillows I ordered for Halloween and showed them photos. Sawyer saw the gray fur and told me I needed a wolf pillow to go with them. A wolf?!!?! Why hadn’t I thought of that? YES! So we hopped on Amazon and found this wolf pillow immediately. Genius idea, Sawyer!I think this guy will be staying out through the winter because I totally love him.
In between my sofas sits my vintage glass coffee table. This is where we have our “Halloween tree.” When we first moved here, I found this little tree and its ornaments at Michaels while the kids were at school one day. It was the perfect piece for their then chubby little hands to decorate on their own. It’s become one of our traditions and each year the kids still hang the ornaments on this miniature tree. The ornaments are shiny, tiny, and colorful, and my kids adore them.
The mantle actually is pretty funny because when I looked back at last year’s Halloween mantle, I had the fringe and the bat banner hanging exactly the same… creature of habit!

However, this year’s version is a little bit creepier. On the hearth I added a vintage porcelain skeleton. I placed one hand in the plant because that plant is close to death as it is… seemed like it was appropriate. On the actual mantle I brought out my favorite glitter skull candleholders, vintage books, and some little white pumpkins and black owls I painted years ago.
On the other side I used the same items to balance it out, but added in a creepy spider.
Chris’ desk sits on the other side of the room and I recently added this vintage shelving unit which used to be in my guest room office. However, that room is becoming Emmy’s room, so the shelf had to go. It’s perfect here to hold our printer, other office supplies, and gives me a chance to display more family photos To bring in a bit of Halloween I added another black owl, and can you spy the other touch?
If you spied the eyeballs in the plant, you win! I made these 5 years ago, and each year I like to find a new place to rest my eyes. (I couldn’t help myself!)
Below the photos on another shelf I also added a nest pumpkin I created a couple years ago.
Before we head outside to the porch, I have one last humorous touch to share with you inside. I had this Frankenstein poster from this shop (He doesn’t have them anymore it appears, but it’s similar to this one) and I wasn’t quite sure where to use it.
I searched all over my house and the last place I thought of was the best… in our bathroom! I have a large piece of art there and I used washi tape to mount it. I am sure all of the men who use this bathroom love the judgy look on Frank’s face. 😉 I just used washi tape in black and white for a nice temporary solution.
So now let’s head out to the porch. I’ve kept it really simple out there, because the real piece de resistance is my Dead & Breakfast sign.As you can see, I keep the hammock out with the cooling temperatures… I love to snuggle up in it! Once it gets to freezing though, we’ll store it for safe keeping.
Other than the sign, I just added some minor touches to our dining area.
On the table I added some vintage linens I thrifted in black and white and lace. I also mixed in some midcentury brass candlesticks and silver candles.
Above the table hangs a birdcage filled with candles. I unwound a grapevine wreath and wrapped it around the cage for a creepy effect.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my Halloween tour. I hope you have found some new ideas to inspire you with your own decorating this season. Please head on over to see what Anissa at House Seven is sharing in her Halloween tour… her style does not disappoint!
