I thought for mother’s day I would share some of my favorite things about my mom… and some of a my favorite things about being a mom…
My mom…
… always considers others feelings.
… can open any gift and show true happiness and gratitude and enthusiasm, whether it is a gorgeous bracelet from my dad, or a rubber eraser from my kids.
… taught me to know that one cannot judge a book by its cover. Some of the best friends you will make in this life are the ones you least expect, so be willing to give them a chance.
… is creative.
… is a wonderful wife (for 35 years now!)
… still is the person I turn to when I need to know I am loved or I am having a bad day.
… is my biggest fan.
… always makes the beds (and now I do, too!).
… has crossed the bridge and met me in the middle… she is one of my best friends.
Mom, I know you read this blog, so I hope you read this today. I love you and am so grateful for all you do and all you’ve taught me. I have a lot to live up to if I am going to be half the mother you are to me.

What I love about being a mom…
… seeing the world through pure innocence.
… learning what it really is to fiercely love someone.
… teaching my children to be best friends, so that they can grow up to always confide in each other, love each other, and trust each other, like my brother and I do.
… the artwork!!! Oh, how I love the artwork! I would wallpaper my house in it, and smile every day!
… seeing pure joy first hand. (The other day I watched Emmy as she swung on the swingset, face to the sun, eyes closed, hair flying behind her as she just lived in that moment.)
… fostering a sense of humor. I constantly hear that Sawyer isa funny kid, and that makes me happy!
… being able to be a kid with them..
And a special shout out to my mother-in-law, who has raised 3 beautiful, caring and thoughtful children, the youngest of which graduated from law school yesterday! Pam, thank you for raising Chris to be a sweet and caring husband and the best father my children could ever have! Miss you and hope to see you soon (hint hint, come visit!).
I wish you all a truly Happy Mother’s Day!
