Hello Spring Home tourI am so excited today to show you my Spring tour as part of the Hello Spring blogger home tour hosted by Carrie from Lovely Etc.  And be sure to make it to the end of this post for a $400 giveaway! Usually I run out and get plants for my porch, fresh flowers and accessories for my home and Spring it on.  Well this year I wasn’t quite ready to get my plants, and I decided to limit purchases that were just for the tour to a couple bouquets of fresh flowers.  Everything else was done using only what I had.  I wanted to create a simple home tour and show Spring can come to your home just by making small changes that keep it feeling fresh.Eclectic Spring Tour Fresh Bohemian VintageI have to admit I really hate giving my style a name… it’s hard to put a finger on it, but I do know what I like.  When I collected all of my images the things that stood out to me were vintage pieces, bohemian accents, and fresh natural elements.  Also  before we begin, in case you are new here, I should tell you that we have 3 dogs, most recently having adopted a deaf miniature schnoodle puppy who needs a little extra love and attention.  Because of this, we have our kitchen and dining room gated, and as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t remove the gates or put the dogs outside because it rained on my shoot day.  So the result is a true real life tour, but a picture heavy one at that.

Let’s start in the kitchen, where the colors are always vibrant and creating a Spring vibe is a cinch.IMG_1207I was so inspired by Justina Blakeney’s kitchen to bring plant life to my open shelves.  They add a nice fresh green that sings of the season.  I had my little aloe plant in a tin already there, as well as a tiny cactus, but I added two larger plants to the top shelf, relocating them from my bedroom where they had been in the window this winter.Plants in the Kitchen on the shelves; blues and greensI just love the way the pothos cascades down the shelves.Pothos on kitchen shelf; blues and greens vintage and eclecticI love the way the plants seem to catch the light a bit as well.Plants on shelves in blue and green eclectic kitchenAlso, I want to mention to the left of the door that leads outside, I’ve added new artwork.  A friend from high school opened his own printing press, and creates amazing prints and letterpress items.  The colors and sentiment on this print were perfect for my kitchen: A Yawn is a Silent Scream for Coffee.  Check out his shop, Dogs & Stars Letterpress!A Yawn is a silent scream for coffee printAcross from the doorway sits our refrigerator, industrial shelving unit, and a minty vintage filing cabinet we use for bread, glassware, and more.  I added a painting I purchased 8 years ago to the top of the cabinet as the colors and scene are perfect for the season.Eclectic Kitchen in blues and greens for SpringThe kitchen opens to the dining room with our industrial island as the segue between the two.  The two spaces are unified by their cohesive lighting, colors, and styles.  On the island we keep all sorts of kitchen mixing bowls and colanders we use on a daily basis.  The crates hold the necessities- small electrics in one, large cutting boards and sports water bottles in another, and dog leashes in another.  And Snowball loves to rest on the bottom shelf, so we added a Merlin Mat from Janery for her to relax comfortably. (more on that later!)Industrial island in an eclectic kitchenOn the island I added a jadeite bowl filled with pears (Danjou are my favorite and I love them crispy and green!) and golden delicious apples.Jadeite bowl with golden delicious apples and pearsThere’s nothing like using decor from your own refrigerator or pantry, right? I just love the Spring colors in these fruits, I had to snap a few pictures!Jadeite bowl with pears and applesAlso on the island is a vintage crate we always keep there with bottled water (and there’s some wine hiding back there).  The enamel pitcher was already there, too, but I added some $5 grocery store flowers.Vintage crate with green glass bottles and enamel pitcher and flowersTo give you a better idea of how the dining room and kitchen flow, here’s a shot that shows their unity.  It also shows Catcher & Snowball’s unity- see them snuggling?Eclectic Dining Room & Kitchen Open planI had plans to add some greenery to the glass bottles on my dining table, but nothing in our yard had any  green leaves yet.  So I decided to bottles were pretty enough on their own.Eclectic Dining Room with bentwoods and bench and panton chairsAs you can see the dollhouse we’ve been working on for Dollhouse Therapy is staying here in the dining room.  We also picked up another one recently and it’s currently pink, so I thought it was perfect in here as a touch of Spring.Dollhouse in dining roomOn top of the blue cabinet, with the plant sitting next to it, it sure looks like Spring to me!Pink Dollhouse as Spring DecorAnd of course the other side of the dining room reminds me that beach days are not too far off now.Eclectic Dining Room with Nautical gallery WallThese paintings always put my soul at ease.  Even with dogs running amok and our spaces baby gated. 😉 Nautical seascape wall in dining roomNow that the days are finally starting to get a little longer, our living room gets so much sunlight throughout the day, and I’ve moved several of our houseplants here for the season.  I had to move our money tree because Snowball enjoyed attacking it when it was in the dining room.Eclectic Living room in blue, white, black, with glass coffee table and vintage sofaI shared my Spring bohemian modern mantle a couple weeks ago, but here it is again in case you missed it.Bohemian Modern Spring mantleThis space is one that we spend a lot of time in as a family and I wanted it to be a little more open, so I’ve been working on rearranging a bit and removing our tall bookcases that were behind the navy sofa.  I’ll be sharing more on that later, but for now, I added all of the books from them to the pipe built-ins Chris and I created.  I also folded all of our blankets and stacked them away for now in hopes we won’t need them as often.Pipe built ins with rainbow booksBesides bringing many of our plants in here, I also added my other grocery store bouquet- hydrangeas- to the coffee table.Eclectic Living RoomI selected this bunch because I loved the hints of green.  I placed them in a vintage Crown glass jar next to a stripped candlestick I made, and a pair of antlers I painted.Hydrangeas and Antlers

Coffee table styling- SpringI just noticed I didn’t crop out my silver toms… guess they were blending with the silver flecked hide!

Chris’ desk area was totally cluttered, so I shoved all of his stuff in places he can’t find it freshened it up a bit and added a plant in a pot Emmy painted.Vintage desk in living room with family photoThis poor snake plant isn’t doing too well, so I am hoping the move into the living room will be a good thing.  I also added these glass nesting tables I won when I won the coffee table.  I didn’t think I’d be using them but they’re perfect-functional yet they feel airy and open still.  See them sitting back there between the chair and sofa?
Eclectic Living RoomIt’s amazing what small changes can do to freshen up a space.IMG_1158

I can’t wait to share what artwork is hanging behind that sofa… but for now here’s the view from sitting on that sofa.Eclectic Living RoomI want to share one more space with you today that’s been getting a little Spring refresh, and that is our master bedroom.  The last time I shared it I was winterizing it with a wool blanket.  For Spring I brought back out my vintage white bedspread, and went all white with bedding and furry white pillows all from Ikea.

White Eclectic Bedroom with Vintage Midcentury accentsI was just craving a fresh white textured palette.
Modern Bohemian White BedroomI did leave my little doily dreamcatcher hanging and it brings a splash of green in.Doily DreamcatcherI also restyled the top of my dresser, and added some jewelry organization, inspired by my friends Emily at The Wicker House and Alice at Thoughts from Alice.Midcentury Dresser with Antler Jewelry Display, Snake Plant- Bohemian

Antler Jewelry DisplayOn the other side I added a sweet white deer I painted years ago.Vintage White deerOf course there is still a major dose of color in this space from my turquoise dresser.  Over here, I simply added my glass head to the vignette, because I had removed it from the other to create the jewelry display.IMG_1095So now I have my collection of glass body parts….  I am not sure what that says bout me. Try not to read too much into it, OK?IMG_1285If you can believe it, I actually had one more space I was going to share with you, but picture overload already!  So Come back tomorrow to check out my guest room and office space.  Now be sure to check out all of the other homes on this amazing tour, and enter our giveaway for $400 smackeroos!!!!

the whisk collection is sort of a joke…. my mom didn’t realize that she was giving me one pretty much every year in my stocking until i pointed it out last year. 😉 so this past christmas i got one because now it’s funny!!! and we want to get chickens but we need to build a coop and do so many other things first!
