This post, Help Us Choose a Wallpaper, is in collaboration with Graham & Brown. *
A little less than a year ago, my neighbor and friend approached me and said, “There’s a new family at our church and they moved in to that old farmhouse. We are hosting a lunch at the house for them and I wanted to know if you’d like to come.”
“That old farmhouse as in the one with the pond?”
“Yes, that’s the one!”
I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I have always driven by that house and dreamed about it…. it’s an old farmhouse built in 1847 and has such character and is surrounded by a beautiful yard with a pond, barn, and willows. I was so excited to see the inside of house and meet the new owners. I walked into the home and right away, I knew that I would be friends with this new owner, Carrie. She was adorably pregnant with her 5th child, and her oldest two (both girls) were not only the same ages as mine, but we discovered would be in the same classes as well when they went back to school. A year later, our girls are the best of friends, and I have also made a friend for life in Carrie. We run or walk together every morning now, and share a love of design, quirky tees, and odd compliments. We can also have an entire conversation with just emojis. A month or so ago I told her I knew right away upon that first meeting that we would be friends- I could just feel the vibe that this was someone who I would like to spend time with, ya know? And she told me she remembered the shirt I was wearing that day, because it was very much something she would wear and she knew that we could be friends. I love how it all worked out!

We often chat about design and DIY projects in our homes, sharing ideas and inspiration. Carrie is in the process of adding on to her home to suit their family, and the room the girls currently sleep in will soon be a secondary room, with the girls moving to a larger space. The current room has light blue trim, and a chair rail; above the chair rail is an old wallpaper. Because the home is so old, the walls are plaster and removing the wallpaper would be nearly impossible. Carrie has decided to wallpaper over the existing paper with something that suits her style. Here’s a peek at what we are working with on the trim and walls:
We are excited to be collaborating with Graham & Brown on this project. We are going to share with you our top 5 wallpapers for this space, but also want to leave you with some things to consider before casting your vote.
1. The paper needs to be something that can be used for the girls room (currently) or possibly for her boys in the future.
2. It needs to work with the current trim color. The trim might eventually be repainted, but it won’t be happening for a long time if it does, so we want it to work with what’s there now.
Now let’s get to the fun part…. Here are the 5 that we have narrowed it down to, in no particular order.
1. Eccentric
What we love: Hello, it’s quirky, whimsical, and fun! We love the woodsy vibe mixed with the hats, frames, and birds. We love the black and white sketch look.
2. Luna Grey
What we love: The pattern is classic, neutral, and also has a great texture and sheen.
What we love: This pattern is nature inspired, whimsical and has just a touch of shine to it on the wings of the butterflies and dragonflies.
What we love: The splash of color that could easily work for a girls’ or boys’ space.
What we love: This pattern is so fun with its animal motif, but also very subtle. The color leans more towards gray in person (a plus for us!).
And now it’s your turn to weigh in with your vote– help us choose the winning wallpaper.
Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion with us.
